You would certainly cut down on the number of patents that way. And patent examiners would suddenly become extremely wealthy.

Are you kidding? First of all, they didn't say they were going to win next week. It's not all there yet.

But a pretty simple laser system could see velocity and rotation as it came off the kicker's foot and perform the required calculations in practically no time at all, making even blocking a penalty kick pretty likely rather than the crapshoot it is normally. As an added bonus, a soccer ball has very evenly spaced lines and spots. You could hardly design a ball easier to read by machine.

Not only will it cure cancer, but patches and upgrades will include cures for AIDS and more as yet undiscovered diseases! Aren't subscriptions wonderful? Still, what happens when you get a BSOD in the middle of the curing process? Do you crash as well? 'Cause people aren't quite as easy to reboot. Better start putting Ctrl+Alt+Del keys on defibrilators now...

And CD's are depriving those hard-working 8-track manufacturers of their profits. Of course some companies updated their products to serve the changing economy. But that'd never work with communications...

  10. CG on Blue Sub #6, Outlaw Star, And Tenchi, Oh My! · · Score: 1

While the CG does rock, has anyone else actually seen how horribly it clashes with the animation? I say, either do it all CG, or else use computers to enhance the normal animation. Doing it like this ruins the whole effect.
