    Its all comes down to cost of investment.

    Many skilled jobs require lots of education and real life experience to become good at them.

    To get skilled labor requires a big investement in education and training - thus its more profitable to have one person
    working 200% instead of two personers working 100% since the cost to create 2 skilled workers
    is the double of getting one skilled worker.

    So in the end the workplace will be divided into - the smart who can do the work and the 'stupid'
    who can't manage the work. Its good business for the state, its good business for the companies.

    It's bad business for those left outside the job market. Its the survival of the fittest.

    However in a world where the growth continues to be high there will always be a place
    for people with less skills - because even those kind of workers will be needed.
    Theoretical its possible to have a world where everyone are needed and everone have a job.

    When people have less money they keep their items for a longer period. They have functional items and don't have the money and there is less peer pressure to buy the latest since for many the money is tight. They dont waste their money by buying new items they don't need.

    This more or less always happen when the economy are bad.

    Even China who has the closest thing to a command economy on the planet is hell bent on running up coal and nuclear for the short term.

    China is the second largest wind power producer in the world and are quickly climbing the ranks to become #1.

    China is actually very heavily investing in wind power and about half of world wide wind power added during the first half of 2010 was in China.

    Before the end of this year China will be the #1 wind power in the world surpassing USA.

    Perfect now big companies can steal ideas from other countries and patent them in the USA. And the smaller damages means it won't cost as much for Microsoft and other big companies when they are convicted of infringing on others patents. This is really good for big companies that like to infringe on smaller companies patents.

    Its spelled that way in some languages. For example in swedish america is spelled "amerika".

    Slashdot is an international multi-cultural website and as such has members from all over the world that use different spelling and sometimes that reflect the comments.

    No they are only forced to store certain type of information and by bundling the VPN with the internet access they can honestly say - when the police asks them who was using a specific IP-adress at a specific time - " We dont know".

    Who was using the VPN service at a specific time is not something that they have to store.

    No the really wierd part was that he was convicted for accessery to accessery to copyright infringement.

    Note that noone was convicted for copyright infringement. The others was convicted for accessory for copyright infringement and he was convicted for helping them.

    Most think that the swedish supreme court will hear this case.

    H264 requires licensing.

    Cause it is the natural shape of the process tree.

    Init is the grandparent and terminal is parent of all programs launched from the terminal - that way you can control the processes using the terminal.

    The patches just move a terminals children into different groups.

    Good designed X11 program works in basically any screen size. Only bad programs hard code the graphical layout towards a specific screen size.

    No that wasn't the case. The truth is that file sharing was never an issue that was discussed during the election, the issue got lost.

    Instead it was a race beetween two blocks of 3 and 4 parties that both was vying for power - none of the blocks won since a 8th party joined and became the deciding factor in the parlament.

    Yes there is sites out there where the company behind them send out software that infect your computer and causes it to become open for anyone to take over.

    Some of them even pretend to do useful things for you like pretending to be a way to secure your computer from nasty attacks.

    No its very unplausible. There is no protection that EU can waive. Each member in EU still make their own laws.

    For the goverement to even attempt to pressure media to not
    publish would be very dangerous fot the goverment. We got free press in Sweden.
