Well I admit that you all made some good points and I should have said the MAJORITY of the open source community. Also, yes there are some good open source projects out there for Windows (Litestep is a good one, and CDex is one I really love)...
For some reason I believe every Hong Kongian out there that still has 56k connection is going prefer paying a couple of yen to some street kid who has a real copy of the movie than spending like a week downloading a VCD.
"Its Free Beer tho. No source code, although such a release would really show their support for the Open Source Community." ... AND leave themselves open to having a bunch of Linux kiddies create a competing C/C++ IDE for Windows/Linux which would totally mess them up...
Also, what is this?
System Requirements
Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows 95, 98 or NT4.0 with Service Pack 3 or later
Looks like this doesn't matter to the open source (Linux, Free/Open/NetBSD, etc) community...
damit, i'm just happy to finally see broadband coming around and in many more different forms. i live in an area where you're lucky to get 56k performance and the geeks are all day dreaming about Cable and ADSL because we may never get these services before we frikkin die. So there. ;-)
Technology that DIDN'T help shape the 20th century was, oh, High-speed Internet Access for Home Computers? Yes, I've gotta say that's my answer. *Beats on his 56k modem to death*.
And who's going to be uploading this weather information ahead of time? Why, you guessed it! Good old Bill Gates! That's right, we all know he controls the weather! (By the way Bill, thanks for all the snow that's comin to us down here in the mid-east! Woohoo!)
Bring on the karma-toilet if you think this isn't funny! hehehehe!
This is actually quite true. I will have to agree with everyone else.
I currently live in an area where the fastest internet access available is mediocre 56k with Cable coming possibly in 2001 and ADSL, who even knows? Bell Atlantic sais its "Available in [my] general area" but its not "Available in [MY] fone line", well, GREAT, THANKS.
Every time I get on a fast line (and by this I mean 20KByte/sec transfers plus) I feel like I am in heaven! Whether or not Cable/ADSL access is available in the region I move to next (after High School, etc) will be a big part of my decition to live there or not.
Good! Get da !@#$^& out Billie! Start working head-to-head with your money-sack and see just how crappy it is. Maybe now Windows (Neptune, actually, is what he will work on) will be GOOD.

Should Slashdot mirror every document that they link to locally from now on? Let's vote...
you could pop open that case and throw it in and get that almost microwave-like heat from the almost 2GHz CPU :-).
Oh wait but then the cooling in there is so
much that might no be possible. Whatever.

Yeah but from my post they have PROOF that I'm funny! How do we know if you're irresistable to women or not, huh? Give us a picture... ;-)
Aw, now THAT'S funny! That kinda name just gets me outta sync and makes me forget everythin else... ARSwards! Mwahah!
;-)
Oh please please, mod me as "Funny".
