Has anyone considered turning an old laptop into a mythtv box? I suspect the NTSC ports on most would be inadequate and the hdd to small, but they do make USB tuners. It sure would fit nicely into the stereo cabinet.
Okay, so now they have a law that prevents me from using someone elses bandwidth via an open WAP.
Are they going to create laws that prevent me from using streetlamps to run my solar-powered devices as well?
Probably not, but what's the difference? These resources are being paid for by me (at least in the case of public library WAPs and street lamps). Is it security? What is preventing me from using the energy from a streetlamp to...whatever.
Seems to me like the GPL is "feel free to drink from this well, but if you make pasta with the water everyone gets some."
This may be a good analogy for the GPL, but with Wine, the movement is primarily to support the LGPL. Modifying your analogy, this would mean that you are free to use the bucket to make just about any type of pasta, but you must allow anyone access to the bucket, even if you've modified it.

Ugh.
So if 3M owns it, would it be:
ScotchGlass(tm) ???
(Scotty would indeed be proud!)

Does it qualify? Probably not since one has to be a pilot to truly enjoy penguin tipping!
