I use a T-Mobile MyTough 4g which I purchased outright from T-Mobile & then flashed with Cyanogenmod. I pay $60/month for unlimited talk, text & data with a 2gb soft cap. If I go over 2gb I'm shifted to edge speed for the rest of the billing cycle. I'm not shut off or charged extra.
The T-mobile network lets me do everything I want my phone to do everywhere I go. I've never had a complaint about coverage, data speeds, or anything else.
When ATT, Sprint, or any other carrier can match that deal, I'll consider switching.
This is great! I'm using a MyTouch 4g (HTC Glacier) flashed with Cyanogenmod 7, but it was a bit of a fuss to root it in order to flash. If they'll make the job easier, I'll look first to HTC for the next phone 'cause this current one w/CM7 is super!
At least Linus is still using numbers. Thank the stars! Linux version numbers still make sooo much more sense than calling one "wacky walrus" & the next "tall timber" or some goddamn thing.
That SD card slot isn't just for capacity, it's also a separate partition. I can slide an SD card loaded with pirate copies of George Orwells "1984" into my Nook and Barnes & Noble can't even see them, much less delete them. With the Kindle... well, we know what happens. Amazon has the Kindle set up so they can see everything on it and take "appropriate action" ("but we'll never do it again")
When I look at a timepiece it's rare that I want to know what time it is. Much more often I want to know "how long since" or "how long until" something. An analog display gives me this info much more quickly than digital.
The LG G2X (and probably several other phones) has an HDMI connector allowing video output. I wonder if this will be disabled. I could find out myself but I returned mine due to the problem with the screen.
Back in a previous lifetime I was associated with a law enforcement agency. In those days you'd park & set up the radar, then check the radar calibration using a tuning fork & write in your notebook that the calibration checked. If the calibration didn't check, you didn't use the gun & turned it in back at the office. Immediately after writing a ticket you'd again check the calibration and note that it checked ok.
I just wonder how often these units are calibrated, or even checked.
I'm not sure it's excessive & I can even see it being used as a selling point; not too much different than seeing on a meat package "Packed under constant supervision of the USDA".
"Googles privacy practices are scrutinized by the US Government and we are the only online service provider who can offer that assurance"
At least Apple users have geniuses available to ask.

Just exactly what is the problem that we're fixing by doing this?

No EPUB, no sd card slot... no sale.
SCMS (the copy protection) was annoying, but it was put on because of the labels, Sony didn't want to limit their product.
How times have changed. "Limiting their product" sure doesn't bother them now.

The only motivation I see for doing so is out of dislike.
It's as though you're trying to make that sound like it's a bad thing.
I'm eager to see if Sony (as in Sony/Ericsson) might have a response to this.
Now we can finally bring the troops home.
I don't use the Opera browser but I do have an account at Fastmail (an Opera company). I wonder if they'll be affected by this dustup.
And optionally support rebooting by holding it upside down and shaking.
Well, as long as it's optional. I don't want to reboot my Windows machine each & every time I get mad at it.

And my wife has a Samsung Galaxy with T-Mobile that has worked perfectly.
Does that include the GPS? I just returned one yesterday because the GPS wouldn't work.
Now I'll have to search for pirated copies of Linux distro's.

Who will be the first to sue this company about the name, the Isaac Asimov estate or Apple?
And the policeman replies...
"We don't have quotas anymore. They let me write as many tickets as I want to now."

...If I had more time or any money to goto school...
Yep, he programs in BASIC allright...
Well, as long as it's rebooting that gives you at least a few moments while Amazon cannot delete your files...
Sonic booms are not caused by a plane "breaking the sound barrier". They are a result ... oh for petes sake just look it up already.
So they're finally catching up with gNewSense. This is very cool. It's not for everyone but it's great to have it available.
