Great standards compliance (J2EE), performance (check their benchmarks page) and written in 100% Java.

FreeBSD Mozilla is on it's way. But unfortunately there seems to be another blocker at the moment, bug 9967, concerning Javascript and floating point arithmetic.

JDK 1.2 for Linux is available and working on FreeBSD, check the mailing list archives for more info on this. But native support would of course be preferred.
JDK 1.1 on FreeBSD is in excellent condition. Performance is IMHO good. Read mailing list archives on more info and discussion on this.
It's JDK 1.2 and future releases that are requested. Also some of the extensions could be worth having.

Tell me more about the new installation system. Has it already landed in -CURRENT? I haven't seen any talking of it on the freebsd-current mailing list the last few months and I can't try -CURRENT out myself.
Noone requires Sun so license their source under the SCSL, so take it or leave it. It's good for customers of Sun, and doesn't matter for the rest of us (since they're not calling it Open Source).
Got to remember, can't stare blind on performance figures. There are other things to consider too, functionality etc. Especially when they both were so close!..
Wouldn't this be a good time for Sun to announce that they will start supporting Linux JDK officially now... (and porting from Linux to FreeBSD etc shouldn't require very much effort)
The volunteers porting it now are doing a good job (I think), but wouldn't it be good to have Linux as an officially supported platform..
BTW, I had to post this from that Linux box since the Winblows media Player co-opted the ".pl" extension on my NT box and when I hit "submit" it tried to play the Perl file.
Tabs are in the domain of the window manager, not the application.

Do you know if this is a feature someone is working on? Exactly what I want, but never thought of!
If no one is working on it it better be sumbitted as a "Request for Enhancement" so it doesn't get forgotten! It's a good idea.

Study the documentation for your window manager a little ("man fvwm2" for example) and you can make it look just as you want it to..

I really hope this doesn't mean that the IM-system will be too heavily integrated into Mozilla... (or integrated at all)
The IM-system definitely should be stand-alone (with optional integration into Mozilla? Can't see why one would like to do that though).
But it's good to have a big (open) organization starting it up...
