    Yes that's how science works.

Hypothesise at random, spend a wad or two on well-connected suppliers and contractors, in the absence of empirical validation of the utility or necessity.

Then declare on failure to achieve any result at all that one has now acquired a valid data point.

Hmmm.... Better try this again, with a different type of camera! Then - at worst - we'll have eliminated two possibilites, at the bargain cost of 400 Million!

GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD! Crime is the excuse used to end dissent. If there were political protest of any size, you can bet the participants would have all been ID'd and added to the "terror" database.

    V for Vendetta.

The covert Government support of CyberCrime by "intelligence" agencies, and the monopoly of profits from this - just like the drug trade.

Too bad the CIA can't destroy the black urban population of America with phishing spam, like they did to the brothers ad sisters with drugs in the 70's and 80's.

That is "classified information, and releasing the details will help the terrorists, and result in dead Americans."

In other words "We could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you."

More Americans will die like Mrs. Buttle's husband, than will ever be exposed to "terrorists".

With a strong-arm over the town he ran like a fiefdom.

Except that Hubbard lived in exile, isolated aboard a yacht and not killed, there are many parralells of someone defrauding the gullible with a false religion to personal advantage.

Smith's followers have tried for more than 150 years to cover up his origin in the New England Spiritualist/Seance movement.

Real religion I have no quibble with. "False gold exists, only because real gold can be found".

CoS and LDS are pseudo-religions, who's origins are related more closely to the material gold of coins, than the spiritual gold of inner experience and vision.
