Well as a brief summary on Shabbos you are forbiden to do "work" which is defined as one of the 39 catagories of acts required to build the Temple. Writing and lighting fires are amoung them, as are by extention turning electric lights on and off as well as using a computer.
Well there should be, my computer here at the office bellongs to the company, it exists for use on work based products. In theory my boss could say no personal email etc. However your computer in your dorm room at school is yours. And a university has a much broader scope than a company. A university exists to promote education.
In general a university should allow the most open use of its network posible. Now this may in some occations entail limiting access to some systems as so not to overwealm the net, but in general things like mail/usenet and web should be as open as posible.
I'm begining to think that they should let the post office regulate email.
Or I should sign all me email with the decree of Rabbi Grishiom. He was the 10th century rabbi who first said that a courier should not read the mail he was carring for people.
Well yes it is about Freedom, but part of that is the freedom for different groups it push it in directions that they want to go with it. RedHat may want to push into the embeded space, IBM into servers and Eazel onto desktops. But in all 3 cases it has to make money or they will stop using it at all.
The New York Times is a staunch supporter of the concept of a free press (as they have to be) but that does not mean that they don't try to turn a profit too. Even a free press has to pay the bills.
If you didn't disclose any inside information or sign something that says you won't talk about them. This is assuming that you are in the US, in other countries the law may be different.
I think you need to get real legal advice. Spend the money and get real council. It probably will save you a bundle in the long run.
And if they send you a threating letter, the first thing out of your mouth should be "Please speak to my lawyer".
Actualy I much favor reading from paper. Now there is no legal way under US law that they can go after used book stores. Thay may not like them, but they can't do much about them.
When a library buys a book or a paper journal they it can only be read by one person at a time. So if it is a popular title they will buy several. And each library will buy a copy of major journals. And while you can get it via inter library loan it is still a limited resource. And for each copy the publisher and author get paid.
Now go to a digital world where you can duplicate content with a few presses of a button and suddenly a library no longer needs 30 copies of the most recent Harry Potter book, they just get 1 and copy it. There needs to be a ballence here. The libraries need to be able to distribute information, but there also needs to be a way to compensate those who created it.
Places to meat Jewish women, well you can just go to a synagogue and wait. There is always someone who would love to set you up with her daughter.:)
I've also had good luck in the SCA and at Cons. College campuses often work. Well it did for me I went to Brandeis. And ofcourse in some areas there are Jewish singles dances the so called "Matzah ball".
I'm sure its not anything obvious, there are a lot of web sites out there, and there are probably a hidden web mail site somewhere in the world that they are using. It would not be hard to setup, hell one guy with a linux box and a cable modem anywhere on the planet.
Chances are its a hidden area on a site that has a normal legit front section.
The made up language thing probably would not work for long. Patterns have a way of creaping in. And lets face it the bad guys already *HAVE* the encryption tech, so banning it probably will not help.
Maybe someone should tell them that RSA was desinged by Jews, that might stop them.:)
There is a definite pro education theme in Jewish life.
In some Jewish homes on a boys first day of school he is given cakes with bits of hebrew writing done on them in frosting, to assosiate Learning with sweet things.
And yes any well educated Jew should be able to discuss the Torah, and you study it for a lifetime.
I find that statement very reasable. If you are gay man who wants to date you should go where there are other gay men. Similarly for years I had problems dating because I kept hanging out in places where there are not many Jewish women. You can't find someone who is not there you know.
For some reason that I still don't understand people from varius minorites tend to do very well.
For Example, Linus is a Sweede from Finland, about 5% of the population of Finland are Sweeds but they tend to be much more prominent than that would indicate.
Also if you look at a list of Nobel prize winners more that 1 in 4 are Jews, despite the fact that we make up less than.2% of the world popluation.
There are a lot of very sucsesful Gay men and women in some fields.
I have always thought that people can do more to benifit the world by raising children with values and by mentoring young people than by anything else.
I am looking forward to the day (G-d willing) when I will be a parent. And can have the joy and stress that goes with it.
Well as I'm not married, none, But I can think of cases where you would want to. For example if you were having an afair and picked up some sort of VD you might not want your spouse to know.
Now I think that would be very unethical on several levels, but it is the best example I can think up now.
Many people do not want their spouse or empolyer to know things about their medical history. And at many offices the employer can in theory look at your email. If you were to email someone something you could create some delicate situations or even get someone fired or divorced.
Even just "Your appointment is next tuesday at 10:00" could cause problems if you are not a GP. I might not want my employer to know that I had an appointment with a Psycatrist or a specalist of one kind or another. There is still a major stigma attached to mental illness in many places.
The problem with games like Sim City is that you tend to play them alone, I personaly am more interested in games that you can play with a group of friends. (That being said I really like sim city)
And some of the old games like charades are a hell of a lot of fun.
Well I know for a fact that several large US banking organazations do use Free software here and there, and I know that Euro cutover in the City of London used perl in a heavy way.
Now that being said I would imagine that much of what runs inside a bank is big iron from IBM with a big 4 database on it. But IBM has embraced Linux and free software. And a lot of it is custom I would guess.
Oh I would not worry about it, the Russians will file a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) with the ATC folks to make sure everyone is out of the way.
I don't think its posible to fly an airliner more than 2 hrs without a NOTAM about *SOMETHING*.

For a more detailed explanation see this page:
Jewdism 101, Shabbat page
Shabbos and Shabbat are different pronunsations of the same word.
I spend a lot of time curled up with a book. Ok I don't have a fireplace, but that part is realy optional.
As for having commentary along side the text why do you need an e-book for that? I own many books that have commentary along side the text.
Plus I can read a paper book on Shabbos.

fuck you kike
Care to insult me to my face? Or are you so ashamed by your hate that you won't even sign your name?
Well at least for books there is no violation of copyright. The libraries do not coppy the books, they just store them and make them avalable.

Diversity is a good thing

How would our gravity change? This would not change the mass of the Earth, only its location.
f(g)= G*M(1)*M(2)/r^2
Larry Niven used this idea In the novel "World out of time". Good Novel, done in the 70's I think.

Virus is a Latin word. It means poison. Check a Latin-English Dictionary. And to make it plaural as "Virii" is a perfectly reasonable
Virii do something.
