Trademarks are in general a good thing, they at some level protect us the consumers. Or at least they are suposed to. When you see a red can with "Coca-Cola" written on it you know that it really is "Coca-Cola" and not something else. No one but the Coca-Cola company has a right to sell a can of stuff called "Coca-Cola". You can sell "MyCola" all you want and even put it in a red can.
Similarly many things like endorcements that you see on products (Such as the Circle-U on foods or the ADA label on toothpaste) Can only work due to trademarks.
Now I will admit in some cases the Enforcement of trademarks has gone to far.
I've done this, and it is worth it. As for how much you are going to get that is going to depend on where you go and the local market.
As for the where question keep in mind that some places Like Asia and much of the interesting bits in Europe are quite expensive, while others are quite cheap. Also if it is somewhere undesirable or dangerous that should be worth extra.
And personaly while I would go abroad again there are a few countries like Suadi Arabia that I would not go to. (Not that they would let me in anyhow)
Most aircraft (Including all Transport catagory craft) have a "Minnimum equipment list" that tells them what exactly can be inoprative for each type of operation. If 1 seat's interenet connection was busted it would not stop them from flying. They would just mark it as non fuctional till the next time the tech staff could look at it.
Similarly it is often the case that 1 seat on the airplane may not be usable due to a busted seatbelt or something, not a huge deal they just leave it empty.
For an aircraft to file a weather report while in flight is common. Even as a student pilot my flight instructor had me file PIREP's with the flight service whenever I ran into weather that was not exactly as the forcast said it should be.
There are some things like cloud tops which can only be seen from above.
You might be able to use it to your advantage, well last month in the reserves I did X. Also if you have earned a higher rank you should be able to use that with at least some employers to show that you will be a responsable and good worker etc.
I have no direct expirience with this so reality may vary.

Read some of the General Aviation press, you will hear stuff coming out of NASA Constantly. All sorts of new tech for small planes is being developed in partnership with NASA. We are talking balistic recovery systems like on the SR20 or glass cockpit displays like on the Lancair Columbia 400 and lots of other cool things.
NASA also runs a major aviation safty reporting program.

True, but that would probably be a lot harder than you might think. You would probably have better results with something known and drug resistant, say TB or Staf.

This is not a national Security risk, you could not make bomb of this stuff, you would need to inject it personaly. And this may end up being a piece in a puzzle that finds new treatments for Cancer or AIDS or any of a 100 other things.
Cancer is when the chemicals in your body that regulate things go haywire and start telling things to start doing things that they should not do. If you know what those chemicals are you have a big edge in treating the cancer.
And if Saddam wants a bomb to threaten the USA he would be better off with Anthrax or TB.

You don't sue a law, you sue a federal offical saying that the law is unconstitnal. This is not a new Idea, the courts have had the ability to decide what a law means and if it is constiutional in the USA since Marbury v. Maddison which I belive was handed down in 1803 or thereabouts.

I heard it 3rd hand, treat it as such. Mostly I was posting it to make a point, you don't want to be the one guy without whom the whole thing falls apart.

I heard once a story about a manager who when he came to work for a new company figured out who was the 1 guy that people absolutly could not live without, and fired him.
Why, well at some point he would leave, you might as well have it happen in a controled way.

There are companies out there that will go into a factory and show the folk that run it how to use less power. Generaly they run by saying "What you pay us, will be less than your savings in power for the next 12-24 months". Hell if someone told me that he could save me $200 on my gas bill next winter for $50 bucks and gave me some evidence that he could I would do it.

You probably tell them that they need to work to avoid having a single point of failure, For example you probably have UPS's around and backups etc. Well you are a single point of failure too. Sooner or later they will *NEED* an admin to deal with this *NOW* and you won't be able to, maybe you will be sick or away visiting the family or whatever.
My advice if they tell you that you have maxed out your PTO, tell them that in that case you will be take a Holiday and going somewhere far away that you always wanted to go to.
That is why it is time off.

Efficiency and Conservation are not the same thing, but they are related things. I bought a new car last summer, it goes farther on the same amount of gas, thus it is more efficiant that the old one, but it also allows me to use less gas and therefore conserve.
Similarly instead of making a dedicated trip to the store I could go on my way home from work, which has the effect of making me more efficient and conserving a bit of gas. Or I could run several errands all at once, again saving gas and time.

Yes in this case blaming deregulation is probably correct because it was done in a brain dead fashion that means that the power companies have to sell electricity for a fixed price while buying it on an open market.
And Conservation is at least *PART* of the answer. Yes more plants are needed but if we could reduce the rate at which they are needed by 2% it would help a hell of a lot.
And face it a room full of servers use a lot of power.

EMC, Compaq, IBM etc all make systems that will do what you want, get them to make you formal proposals for systems. For a setup of this size you really need one of these systems and you need someone who can figure out what you really need.
Good Luck.

Why from time to time I like to work with head hunters, and they all tell you that they need to know who has and has not seen your resume.
If a company has seen your resume and it is sent to them by a head hunter they have a conflict, which did they get first? Can they prove that etc. So they usualy respond by skipping the problem and both go into the bin. If I post my resume somewhere it becomes very hard to work with a head hunter.

Why would you want to re-invent the printing press? You could just go out and buy one. Or do something much more sennsable, hire someone to do your printing for you. When you buy a book from most publishers the company who's name apears as the publisher does not own the printing press that it was made on, they hire another company to the actual printing.
On the other hand I know a guy who has a re-production historic printing press, it is very cool but not what you would call easy to use.

I read about 6-8 newsgroups daily and I can say some of them like the aviation groups are great. And there are others which are just a useless waste (rec.food.veg) with so many trolls and such that usefull converstation is just imposible.
But I have been using usenet on and off since '91 and have no intention of giving it up.

RBS said "well we would love to help but there are these rules that the Bank Of England put on all banks..." and then explained them to me. Everyone else just said "NO". They still didn't get me the acount but I walked out with an understanding of why.
I ended up with Barclays after getting a job and they set me up with their bank.
And for the record I am a citizen of the UK.

I moved from the US to the UK and It was awful, I had no credit or employment history. I got turned down by every bank on the High st for a checking accoung. (Except Lloyds, they wanted me to make an appointment before they turned me down).
Royal Bank of Scotland was the most pleasent, they spend a few minutes trying to figure out a way to get me an accound and explained exactly why they were not able to do so.

The only one I can come up with is for a hard drive in some form of embeded system (Like the flight controls on an aircraft) where you would want to make sure that no one was tampering with the code. Or maybe in a top secret computer to enforce classification.
Still would not want it on my desktop/server or Tivo.

I expect to move to a PA-28 Warrior and do my IFR stuff in the next few months.
