    None of this configuration information can be used to identify you.

    They might not be able to identify you, but they can identify the machine at least for XP. Since XP requires registration, I'd say they know your machine and who paid for XP to go on there.

    I wouldn't be surprised if at some later date they claim this is for the catch all 'security reasons.'

    Oh, I love this idea. Back in college in my intro cultural anthropology class, I read about a small town being giving a survey where very few confessed to drinking beer. Of course in the local dump an anthropologist decided to check those numbers against the used beer cans. Apparently those 3 people drank something like 698 beers a week.

    Of course this could make finding out what your politicans are doing so much easier.

    Make me a sail out of this material and I will cruise when it is windy, sunny or both. Just throw some kevlar into the substrate. Or use carbon fibers instead of aluminum for the interconnect

    Wouldn't salt spray interfere with collecting the sun? I'd think the sail would get coated with salt.

    Depends on the building. I'd say a 50 story building at the edge of downtown would have more surface area than the roof for at least half the day.

    Of course if you are in Houston, the Transco Tower is all alone. It is 64 stories and 901 feet tall.

    Evolution is not about who gets killed. It is about who survives. Humans are just pooling largest selection of genes in our species history. By trying to save every human life, we are preserving genetic diversity in our species.

    The real problem is we have a finite amount of space and resources to mantain a large diverse population.

    In the 80s, the FBI said 99.9% of the population have committed a federal crime worthy of jail time.

    With laws like the PATRIOT act and DMCA, I'd say they are going after that .1%

    Ditto.

    Everyone expects their kids to grow up someday and have sex. Nobody wants them to grow up to be violent. I think they should be a bit more concerned about accessing terrorist or bomb making material than nude girls.

    I had a lot of angst when I was a kid and I was clever enough to download the Anarchist Cookbook from a BBS.

    Luckly I was lazy back then. It seemed too much work to haul chemicals to school.

    And be totally honest with yourselves: did The Two Towers really deserve a Best Picture nomination this year?

    Though I love Lord of the Rings, I can't see them giving the award to the middle movie. If they didn't give it to the first part, I doubt they'll give it to the middle part. In a way it makes sense. Do you want it to win when you've only seen 2/3s of it? Let's judge it when it is over.

    Absolutely one of the most impactful things I have ever viewed. I saw it when it came out, and I really want to see it again. Even if you disagree with some of the views that it presents, you need to see it.

    I loved the movie, but I didn't understand one part. What's so special about getting a free gun if you open a bank account? Here in Texas yall can get a free shotgun at the Home The4ter Store. Get a 65" widescreen and a shotgun. What could be better!

    It was a great movie and I highly recommend it to every American.

    Have you ever used your credit card to buy something at Walmart? When you sign that slip, you're essentially signing a contract that you'll alow your bank to pay Walmart.

    and I'd have a problem with that too if like most EULAs, I was agreeing to a 1mb contract that would take 10 or more minutes to read. At least credit card contracts are very specific single issue. Basically I agree to pay so and so....

    Heck, if credit card contracts were like the Friendly Greeting Card (virus-like) EULA, nobody would ever read it and everyone you know would get spammed credit card ads.

    The reason I don't buy it is a personal reason. My father and mother in law died of colon cancer and they had the worst eating habits.

    Typically they would make some edible food in the morning and then nibble on it all day (hot or cold whether they washed their hands or not.) They bought pepto bismol in the economy size twice a week and thought that was normal!

    This is a nice study, but there are other factors. My parents in law had well water that had oil in it, so I'd say environmental issues play a large roll in cancer.

    Does anyone else have a problem with mass produced contracts?

    Excluding software, I can't remember the last time I dealt with a contract when buying something at Walmart.

    It's interesting to note that downloading music you already own is most likely perfectly legal, whether the RIAA likes to admit it or not, simply because of they way they are trying to categorize the sale of music.

    You might be in your rights to download it, but the guy on the other end isn't allowed to share them.

    DVD regions just make me wish the MPAA was required to release Region 0 DVDs 2 years after the release of a movie anywhere.

    I hate their arguement that regions are needed to allow movies to be released in theaters before you can buy them. What I hate about the arguement is what about old movies?

    Why is Gone With The Wind: DVD Deluxe Collector Box Set (1939) a region 1 dvd? They've had 64 years to play it in every country.

    Of course their other arguement is regions protect prices. Region 1 dvds cost more. Well, if they are only going to release the DVD in one region anyway, why not put it in Region 0? If there's not enough of a market in other regions, then release it in region 0 and pool everyone together.

    sorry, I'm just annoyed by all the region stuff....

    Base it off of all of the Total Information Awareness data that the government wants to gather about us, so it predicts what you want.


    Who needs the government when you've got friendly corporate America gathering the information. I believe Google Labs has this very idea in the works.
