Wow... those are by far the most strict password requirements I've ever heard. Too complicated and passwords become meaningless because they'll have to be written down. In situations like that, sentence passwords are the best bet – "I ate 1 chicken!" would satisfy just about any requirement anywhere, and it's pretty simple to recall. Still, wouldn't want to change it once a week though, LOL.
I had a professor who ran a dictionary attack against all his students' accounts (just a dictionary attack + common mods, not a full bruteforce). We had to change it if it got cracked, and a lot of them did.
I know a guy who worked at a place where the system saved passwords as plaintext. So I guess that's the first mistake. He did a query, and 75% of the passwords were in fact "password".
Asheron's Call was one of the first MMORPGs when it came out in 1999, long before WoW had dumbed everything down. There was no classes, just a huge list of basic skills (i.e., melee defense, unarmed combat, thrown weapons, alchemy) -- you had to decide what you wanted to do and train/specialize a set of these skills that uniquely defined your character. You needed to have component items to cast spells, and you had to do research and some guessing to learn the spells. The PvP server was harsh, but the monarchy system provided protection and made for the best faction system in any game.
Of course, AC was not without its problems, and it was simplified somewhat (probably too much) over the years. But it's still nowhere near as cookie cutter and cliche as World of Warcraft.
I just don't get why it hasn't caught on more. Moving a mouse for 8 hours a day gets really old, really fast. Last time I used a mouse for a full day was when i forgot to bring a Trackman on the first day of work, and it was awful.
It's only slightly less accurate than a mouse for FPS games, at least for me (I am no fatal1ty but can usually get a ktd >= 1 in most games). In CS:S I make up for it by using shotgun, LOL.
I've tried the regular style trackballs as well, and don't like them as much as the Trackman because they require more hand movement (unless I was just using them wrong).
This thing is fantastic -- imagine not having to move your arm and wrist in order to move the cursor. I'm kind of surprised that I haven't seen more people using them, although they do take a couple of days to get used to. However, once you're accustomed to it there is no going back.
I love Amazon's sell-your-own-stuff service as much as I do the site itself. I finally decided to get rid of the college books I'm never going to touch again, and Amazon makes the entire process insanely simple. In the past week I've made a few hundred bucks and it took almost no effort.
Also, the Amazon music store is fantastic, there's no way I'm going back to iTunes. Real MP3s, 256Kbps, and they sell long songs individually instead of making you download the whole album.
Because, for some ungodly reason, everyone still uses keyboards that put the cursor keys on the same side as the mouse. Surfing the web is all about the freakin' mouse.. so making a web game that requires you to take your hand off the mouse is a bit silly.
Or you could just make a camera that can SELF-DESTRUCT IN A GIGANTIC AND AWESOME FIREBALL AT THE PUSH OF A BUTTON.
Great, now look what I did. I used so many capitalized words that the filter is blocking my post. This post isn't really worth all the effort I'm going to just to get past the filter.
Bill Gates said this, I heard him say it. True story.

Dude, I saw that show. You never know what seemingly random research is going to accomplish.

Dang, I didn't even know thumbs had flanks.
Wait, did they remove it after you broke it?

If the Zune 3.1 firmware turns out to be the problem, then I assume the patched version will be Zune 3.11. Hey, this sounds familiar.
Depends -- did you drink antifreeze or potassium chloride prior to this incident? If so then yes, I will consider it a suicide.

This would mean that my Geforce2 256 is better at games than my ATI 4870, which does not seem quite right.
