They are going to use a ground-based laser to shoot em down. Whoa.
Looks like either
(a) SDI has managed to hide a key development as "civilian"
OR
(b) NASA is clever and manage to get AirForce funding on essential technologies.
BTW - is it generally possible to buy the Linux version and then download the Windows executable?
I think in pricniple yes. But probably not in current practice : (a) the window version is so much more accessible (b) I don't know about the legality of it (I don't think there are "free" window executables).
Look, somebody just mod my previous comment Flamebait. Hehe.
Hear Hear. I love Lokisoft. I think they have their hearts in the right place, with a lot of brains too. I used to keep a WinDoz partition to play games, but now I've deleted that away.
Loki is a big reason for that, and everybody to chip in and buy their stuff. Because they deserve our support.
The University of Chicago used to be very bad about this (and also withheld all their theses from UMI, so you didn't have anywhere else to go). I don't know if this is still the case, however.
Really? I am in UofC and I don't hear anythign about this.
AFAIK, I see theses being thrown everywhere. People here LOVED to throw their theses everywhere. It's called "Citation".
I see it like a Red Hat thingie. You can get it free, but you can pay a bit to get them "easier" format. (THough I doubt anything is easier than me eamiling them a latex document:)).
However, the process I described is also called bremsstrahlung. I used to work in the space industry (I am now doing astrophysics), and one of the reasons why thick Aluminium is not used as radiation shielding in space is because of bremsstrahlung effects from high energy protons.
The moderation is really crazy nowadays. Bremsstrahlung is a physical process, which with high energy particles like X-rays can scatter the lattice of silicon, resulting in spurious irradiation and damage to components.
Many different libraries for the same thing is bad?! That's one word to describe that : COMPETITION (not EGO). More competition means better quality products.
No wonder you are back to Win98SE : they have exactly one library for one job. And that's why it is unstable as hell. (And the company that produces it is being sued by being anti-COMPETITION.)
Linux is not for everybody. It's for people who are willing to trade off some time to learn some new things, and have fun while doing that. If you are not willing to invest time in figuring things out, fine. But don't write inflammatory rhetoric accusing the people who spend their valuable time writing code for free as egoists.
It's is strange that we strived to block smut from "young" people, while trusting that "adults" can watch them without being "corrupted".
The truth is that people who are interested in smut will always be interested in smut whether or not they are exposed to smut as young kids in the first place.
Smut is just an interest. If somebody has nothing better to do in his/her life, and like smut then he/she will want it. If somebody likes smut, but then found something else more interesting to do (like writing obfuscated Perl code), then he/she will just lose interest in smut and channel his/her interest somewhere else.
Block smut in Junior/Senior/Blah blah anywhere is NOT going to make a more "moral" world. What's the difference? 12 year old kids will eventually grow up to be 18 anyway.
I personally think watching smut is not amoral. I just think it's boring after a while : there are just so much more interesting things I can do.
Or...was it Revenge of the Killer Llamas (the sequel?) I forgot. It's suuuuuuuuuch a long time ago where code is short and sweet and all packed into 3K (for the VIC 20). Now Take That for obsfuscated!

Make your pick.
I personally hope they will port the apps. After all I want my Mom to use linux too :)
Cowpland resigns from Corel,
:)
Indrema allies with Redhat.
Lokisoft produces BSD games.
Ge2 released.
Must be a slow news day

Well, my point is that you can get to play the games without buying their stuff by
(a) Have a WinDoz partition
(b) Buy the Windoz version and get the free linux executables
Instead of that, you can just buy their games straight.

Who would be very very happy to send you a copy!
:) ), ping me and I'll be more than happy to send them a copy.
:).
I've asked for theses from the original authors before, and they are always happy to oblige by sending a copy.
Academic people have given up their rights to a thesis, which is owned by the university (who provide them happily too).
So what the heck are they trying to do?
If anyway is interested in my thesis (when I am done in a few years that's it
Why the generosity? Research is sponsored mostly by public funds, so the research goes back to the public.
Besides, it's always gratifying to know your thesis is interesting to some people

You are right regarding the plasma part.

Duh.

Then the gov is in deep trouble. And you can vote them out in the next election.
Or better still, go and do something about it.
Ooi! Brother. Go to Imbi and get yourself a copy of Linux then, it's the only legal thing there.
And quit chanting reformasi please, and move on.

Now, be a good boy.
A kettle with 10^8 Kelvins should work :).
(That's what princeton's Plasma Physics Lab can do ).
Where did that number comes from?
The REAL fundamental is Mr Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle pxh!
Even Lynx can't handle that.
Maybe they might actually see a penis bird..:)

they explode.
It sounds suspiciously like "GUI" to me.
Hear! Hear! Let me go and have one right now.
Most downloaded woman? I thought it was Pam Anderson.
Or was it before Tommy Lee downloaded her?
just checked, it's Attack/Revenge of the Mutant Camels. Ilamasoft for the Vic20 (3Kilobytes!).
I got it confused with Llamasoft.
Jeff Minter's still coding!
Or...was it Revenge of the Killer Llamas (the sequel?) I forgot. It's suuuuuuuuuch a long time ago where code is short and sweet and all packed into 3K (for the VIC 20). Now Take That for obsfuscated!
