No, I think it's more something like a pic, it costs a lot less, it's smaller, and it's way enough for what the cuecat does...
If you check the icon at the top left of the screen capture there it is the standard icon for C++ builder apps (hey they could recompile everything using Kylix...)

no, they have to use old stuff, as it also need to be somewhat radiation resistant (they have to change the laptops every onece in a while, as charged particles f**k chips up
remember, when they changed the computer on Hubble, they installed a special 486 which was "hardened" that cost about 5 grand per processor...

Compaq Personal Jukebox
Example Filesystem Code
Copyright (C) 2000 Compaq Computer Corporation
NOTE: The Personal Jukebox is not a Compaq product. It was developed
by Compaq Corporate Research and was licensed to Remote Solution.
You can read a little more about the research effort for the PJB
by visiting: http://www.research.digital.com/SRC/pjb
You can purchase a Personal Jukebox by contacting Remote
Solution, or by visiting the web site at http://www.pjbox.com
This kit is released under the GNU Public License. There should be
a file 'gpl.txt' containing this license. You can read more about
the GPL by visiting http://www.gnu.org
------------------------------------------------ ----------------------
This kit contains enough code to communicate with and manipulate the
file system of a PJB-100 Personal Jukebox.
It is not a complete Jukebox Manager application. Instead, it is
an open-source version of some of the library routines used in
the PJB's shipping Jukebox Manager. With this library source,
you can write your own Jukebox Manager for Windows, Linux,
or any other operating system that supports USB.
There are some specifications for the file system in the docs/
directory on this kit.
In particular, check out docs/todo.txt.
We hope you find this useful.
Thanks!

it seems that this clickwrap license is generated by a standard(tm) cgi that is on all files you want to download.
The files are accompanied by a file called gpl.txt containing the text to the gpl version 2
Thus, the Clickwrap licence violates the gpl in the file...
probably the hasty work of a web designer that is more a graphist than a sysadmin...
More modern drives have a "digital audio out", which does digitally encoded audio to the soundcard, but I'm not sure if it's really an exact copy of the CDDA data
It is an SPDIF output, thus a perfect copy of the digital data on the disc (there is a copybit thing though, but it's not difficult to get rid of it)
and now for some journalistic humor: The Tuesday meeting itself will feature a keynote address by Michael S. Dell, chairman of Dell Computer, and will include an announcement from I.B.M. that it will make a Gnome version of Linux available on its Thinkpad portable computers as a user option.
Yeah, right Furthermore, if you go to the virgin Megastore in Paris, you won't find any DVD player that handles the region coding, they are all region free
Seems that the cases for which the software has been used featured stupid people. if I was to do some sort of crime, I would definitely tend to encrypt all communications... This is similar to the echelon crap. It can go through plain text, but encrypted stuff is another matter.
happened differently at the post office here (Paris, France, 20th burough). they used a caterpillar earth moving equipment stolen from a nearby in-construction building to grab the ATM and loaD it into a truck. I SAW the results, and the marks of the teeths on the wall can still be seen...
