Here's the kicker. Every major city in the US has got just as much CCTV surveillance as London! Yes, you're "spied on" just as much in New York as you are in London, and you've got armed police ready and willing to shoot you, too. It must be awful living in the US, with that constant threat over you all the time.
There's a local station near where I live in northern england. It serves a small rural town, has two platforms, a carpark and a ticket office. How many CCTV cameras does it have?
There is a potential for problems if a very manager with very insecure security tendencies asks a sysadmin for very important passwords. In some circumstances, the sysadmin might feel justified not handing the passwords over as it would compromise the security of the existing system.
my boss sees blue screens on a daily basis on his vista laptop. something to do with a network driver? (we do asterisk consultancy so it's not like he's doing anything exotic) Anyway, it and it alone is pushing him to let me install ubuntu on it for him... We'll get there in the end. BSOD's *do* still live on.

As GP suggested, and I agreed, that's what I'd prefer.
Please tell the EU to go fuck itself and/or adapt its copyright and patent law to the Canadian model.
Canadians, please do as he says.
I'm European.
Disinformation is a great attack.
All valid points. :)

Much like children aren't allowed in bars, children should not be allowed on the internet.
There are THREE ways to of getting something done: Pay someone to do it, do it yourself or forbid your children from doing it...
I didn't think finding Pirates was difficult.
Buy a boat, sail past somalia, and THEY'LL COME TO YOU!
It will once I install Ubuntu.
You must be new here.
Indeed twitter's centralised service is what makes it such a problem.
Personally I use http://identi.ca/
It's based on laconica, is free software and is federated. eg. http://army.twit.tv/
I'm at http://identi.ca/tdobson and this downtime is not causing me any problems! :)
