This is not Broadband Over Power Line(BPL). In BPL a public electricity utility company uses its cables to provide broadband. Since the cables are long (long as in 10s of kms) , and their modems pump in a lot of power, they interfere with HAM communications.
This article, FYI, talks about low power networking devices for short home cables (short as in 10s of meters).
Then why dont they start shipping XP? May be there is something else to it, than directly making a profit. May be, they can charge the OEMs more for Vista, since the OEMs can inturn charge the customer extra for downgrades. Guess how much vista would have been worth, if no body could downgrade to XP from vista and XP was available in retail.
Frankly, I dont expect MSFT to do anything that does not directly correlate to immediate profits.
I raise Foxit Reader as an example, which as of v3.0 automatically installs a Firefox plugin. No one's yelling about that.
Flawed analogy.
What would you say if Foxit Reader updater installs a plugin for Adobe Acrobat reader?
I specifically want to avoid IE crap and download FF (for security and usability reasons) and I see the IE developer sneak-in a FF plugin without warning. I say BS
I don't get the impression that Hinduism is very strict regarding one's sexual conduct.
Actually it is not Hinduism that restricts it. I have seen many hindu temple with erotic statues. It was the British, who considered these objectionable and made it taboo during their century old rule. This opinion unfortunately still continues.
I live in India and I can assure you that, there are no think of the children or think of the terrorists laws in India (Except POTA for terrorism, which was repealed two years ago, and a bill which is under discussion right now).
From a glance at the bill, I believe they wanted to cover all immoral acts and also leave the interpretation wide open. This is partly because of incompetence and stupidity of the person who wrote the law and partly because the law will be passed without a discussion in the Lok Sabha (one of the two parliamentary chambers), where I am sure not a single person would even have a vague idea of what the bill is, and subsequently though the Rajya Sabha(thought it does have few bright and technically sound people)
As Heinlein's Razor" said, "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity"
That said, in India, it is always how the laws are enforced that matters; there are a number of laws, which even lawyers, judges, police do not follow.
Its the same in India, I can file my taxes online, and sign them with my private keys (Issued by 3 authorized private cos) or print the confirmation, sign and hand it to the tax office physically.
Yeah, I could write an article right now about what would be coolest in 2009
1. Ubuntu 9.10
2. Ubuntu 9.4
3. Fedora 10
4. Firefox 4
5. JeOS 2
6. Open Suse 11 ...
And I wonder, why did they forget the service packs, IIRC Open Suse 10 SP2 was released this year.
I did not know NSA had the monopoly in organizing code cracking contests in the US. May be they should sue the FBI asking for compensation. A cease and desist letter should be even more fun.
Hell no!!!

May be Google should start one.

You run antivirus on wine?
Yes, with more patches gone into IE6 than IE7, I would expect IE6 to be more stable.
And remember most of the code for IE7, did not come from IE6, most of it was rewritten.
Bittorent slow? and that someone would name it different from the actual content?
Have you heard of something called https://thepiratebay.org/
If not you should try visiting them someday.
http://www.hackthissite.org/
slashdot.org :)
I second this, I have even written to them about this, but yet to hear from them
Seriously, what must they have been thinking?
That they were... i mean wear grey hats.
Social engineering can work on *any* OS (even the OS certified by NSA) . It is the user that needs to fixed.
Maybe it's that mighty 2% market share. After TWENTY FIVE years of effort. Microsoft must be terrified at that sort of "rapid" growth.
Do u mean all linux had tried in past 17 years was to outpace MSFT in the *desktop* market and has failed.
Clue: there is something called a server market too.
Discontinued in August and restarted the lawsuits in September. Technically that not a lie.
PS: Looks like I should been a lawyer.

Since when can someone, at will, take back something they have *donated*. You donate something, its no longer yours.
Let me see the guy try this with, say, Gates Foundation.

Atleast RTFS, the story is that now you can use other GSM carriers on your iphone.
Oops my mistake, thanks for pointing it out
Yet another law enacted by the british. This one was written about 148 years ago.
Its just that no politician wants to risk legalising sodomy. It offers no returns in terms of votes, and is more of a risk.

TFA is a non-story.
