NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING will happen over this. The CD will sell great guns to young girls with no taste, it'll go to number 1, and the test will deemed a success. End of story.

The best way? Boycott CD's entirely. Since this whole fiasco started thanks to Napster, I've not bought a CD. I haven't bought a CD in 18 months. Used to buy a lot, but I won't do it anymore. I've played a large number of Blizzard games, and while they DO tend to not have to release a large number of patches, they did kinda drop the ball on Diablo 2 as the multiplayer side of it was hosed up royally.

There were also huge problems with Battle Net when starcraft was released. Battle Net now is MUCH better than it used to be.

Another thing going for Blizzard is they don't drop their games quickly. Starcraft, which was released around 3 years ago now, is still supported, and they recently released a new patch to fix some issues. Diablo is still being supported too.

Too bad they don't seem to like Linux since Blizzard seem to be one of the few game companies that give a damn about their customers, and aren't just out to ship product.

Despite what the submitter said, this is NOT terrible. It's great.

Despite their protestations, the Linux ports of games have been sub standard. Don't believe me? Try running Myth 2 on the minimum spec machine, which runs the game just fine in Windows. MMM! Suck down that sub 2fps goodness. Add the fact the game doesn't work with a lot of 3d hardware, and it's a piss poor effort.

After loading Myth2 or HoMM, wait for the delay after you click a menu option. Plus the fact that they've shipped virtually nothing in the last year.

In short, Loki products, while useful (Myth 2, despite the shit performance is a great game, but that's Bungie's doing, not Loki's) were substandard, and if they go under, hopefully a more talented organization will rise in it's place.

I would have recommended RedHat, until version 7. That was a clustermess, and I will never use, nor recommend them again.

I think Mandrake is probably the best choice. It has the easiest install of any distro I've used (I've used everything but Slackware), has a great selection of software, and is very helpful with getting your hardware working.

I would NOT recommend Debian to a newbie. A Windows veteran should be eased into Linux, hence Mandrake is the best choice. (And I review distros for a living. Not that that actually means anything.)
