I haven't bought a new PC in almost 20 years. Sure I've upgraded the modem, network card, sound card, motherboard, memory, cpu, video card, monitor, keyboard, mouse, case, hard drive, ssd, and individually all several times in that 20 years, but it's been one continuous computer.
It still comes down to costs, if it will cost more to buy out someones contract rather than go through the legal battles then they will unlikely get fired or will be paid to be so. FYI this also is why a lot of incompetent people don't get fired from much lower positions as well.
That can only work for so long. Companies trim the fat all the time. If a company happens to be so good at providing it's service that none other can do so by making sure that these people are not clogging up the payroll then that is fine, or perhaps those people are not as incompetent as you think.
What is more open about a text based protocol and a binary based one? The RFC will explain what and how to parse either way. both will either be open or closed.
the main difference when things go bad either people get fired or businesses go under, in government when things go bad those people with no real job get raises.
Actually no it's not, those millions are going into materials and research for people who built the plane or parts of it. The economy is not a fixed size pie. When someone spends millions on something like this it isn't millions gone from the economy in fact they are off to do many other things. The only wasted money is what is sitting in a piggy bank or thrown under a mattress.
Where does this rumor come from? I've watched the movie and they blast the shit out of the rebels in the opening scene. The only time they seem to miss is when they were herding Han Leia Luke and Chewbaka back to their ship so they could track it to the rebel base, wouldn't have been a good plan to get a tracking device on the ship then kill everyone before they get back. I'm pretty certain that you could take a rough estimate of the number of people killed due to political reasoning and count up all the people killed that was blamed (rightfully or not) on video games and you'd still be able to tell which is more dangerous.
Are you really saying that the mass slaughtering persistent oncoming hordes is not violent? I'd say it has at the very least desensitized you to what is violent.
especially with a gas turbine engine. You should be able to muffle it enough to be useable if running at a single speed and load just turning a generator holding a capacitor bank full.

All this and now they want to put an always (or nearly) on mic and camera in my home?
If you don't know, then perhaps a different career is what you should target.
India will grow 90% over the next 5 years, almost double. At that rate in in 45-50 years everyone in India will be a software developer.
Or if we could just get people to pay what they feel something is worth....or is that what they are doing? If you don't like the price don't buy it.

...drove the company to the ground.
I guess you're agreeing with my post?
is it so difficult to adjust from 404 to 0b110010100, the built into browser dev tools will convert it for you anyway.

Hopefully they'll be the ones in charge of healthcare.

And how something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution doesn't mean it's not a new country where many others in the list fall into the same category.
I think the term Infotainment helps enhance the synergy of the terms information and entertainment.
What! You mean people have to way risks? This is terrible the government should step in and decide what to do.
but you forget that higher demand can kick in economies of scale increasing supply. Economics is a tricky bitch, full of never ending feedback loops.
I don't know who the Kennewick Man is but that's a bust of Sir Patrick Stewart.
2004: 42lbs
2013: 4lbs
2004: $4500
2013: $450
I can't say I mind the trade off.
This happened while I was sitting still, stopped in heavy traffic.
