I got a great idea, Lets loan a bunch of money to people we're pretty sure wont pay it back. Sounds like a great business plan right?
Oh, the caveat, we don't have to worry about the loan because the government will guarantee it for us. We don't even have to worry about it once we have the loan origination fees.
Of course with out stupid government regulation this business plan would have never worked. It was even worse than most other types of welfare and almost as bad as things like rent control.
Of course they only did what they wanted to do. The government didn't force anything but they sure as hell incentivised them to the point they couldn't really do anything else. I suppose you could call that "RELAXED." in some kind of twisted way. What you call relaxed was quite the opposite. The government basically paid banks to originate loans that would be bought up by government funded entities.
The crash of 2008 was specifically due to regulation. The government thinking that banks we're not loaning enough money to people that were unlikely to pay it back so banks were given incentives to do so by regulation. This made for the artificial bubble in people getting cheap loans. Then as it turns out that these people were a bad risk as the banks estimated in the beginning and didn't pay loans back it crashed.
If there's a perceived problem with free market, government can usually guarantee there's a problem with regulation.
Good thing there isn't a government mandate to remove all petrol cars and replace them with battery cars tomorrow as your example seems to assume. If the market for chargers builds up then so will the infrastructure to support it.
Yes, it has been shown that women tend to spend more time having and raising children rather than developing expertise in a career. It has also been found that Women who don't follow that biological plan typically do better than men it is just much more rare.
then how do we get something better? with close to 7 billion people is there really an intelligence test that will get to 100.000000001 accuracy? Let me give you a hint, the real world is all about precision and not perfection. The current IQ tests are precise to whole numbers only.
That's only because as I experience certain sensory input patterns from these family pets, my mental pathways become accustomed to them. The inputs eventually are anticipated and even missed when absent.
Just like Television and Gardening are not the same market, but it's difficult to do both at the same time and doing one means you are not doing the other.
More like comparing cars to trucks. (movie guy voice) In a world where the car was never invented and everyone had trucks, then someone came along and said lets just invent a truck that has limited cargo space but is smaller more convenient to just drive around.
Sure there are still people that will need trucks and people who don't need them but buy them anyway. Doesn't mean the car isn't displacing truck purchases.
They may not compete in the sense of high end gaming, but they compete in the sense of Water Parks vs Movie theaters. Sure die hard movie viewers would say there is no way a Water Park competes, same for someone that likes to spend time swiming in other peoples urine, but both are competing for your time. If someone spends 3 hours a day playing an iPad game that's 3 hours they are not playing an Xbox. They may not even consider getting a new Xbox.
Funny releated story, Peter Mayhew and I were on a smoke break at a convention. Peter was talking about the scene in EpIII where Yoda jumps up on Chewbacca's back. To shoot the scene they had a sandbag that was to be replaced with CGI Yoda that Peter had to repeatedly lift up onto his back. In his older age this was starting to get to him and gave him a... spell checked Chewbacca.
The only refrence that I know of to fully sentient droids in Star Wars were IG-88 and R2D2. All others were either hybrid alien droid combos like General Grevious or the Bomarr Monk or they were just pre-programed robots.
"I guess that is how the free market works now, do what you want and if it turns out to be a bad idea you pay no consequences due to the laws you paid to get passed."
No, that is the definition of a socialist market, not a free market.
Or it could, on the fly, calculate exactly how much the lawsuit would cost if it smashed a bus load of nuns vs. the cost of it's cargo. It could save millions for the company.
Or they sue exactly the same way they do now, but the far fewer accidents means far fewer lawsuits. Companies save money but the poor people and lawyers miss out because they get to play less lawsuit lottery. Guess which two groups produce the most votes and most politicians?
Pushed incentives from the government are a form of regulation. Sorry to have to educate you.

I'm pretty sure you'd get a blank stare from a large portion of the different names of the so called "Legitimate" moneys

If we look a a set if IQ scores (the current best estimate for intelligence)
[85,87,98,99,99,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,101,101,102,110,115]
Half the people are not below average.

They could even be evil and greedy. They are still going to put their effort into the market either by creating demand or providing supplies.

Simple. we just start using hover trains. Man, do I have to think of everything?
It's all part of the train fantasy, why can't we have hover trains, too?
