That was basically my point though I was trying to not pull the usual slashdot geek attitdue of "microsoft sucks". I just wish the lawyers and businesmen who run the company would understand that real innovation is an investment... not just a purchase. That's one thing I've always respected about Apple and about Steve Jobs-- They've always been out there and really inovating. They've made mistakes, but they've always learned from them. The point is... apple has taken chances and produced quality hardware and software. Microsoft has only purchased/borrowed.. and repackaged.

Gates was widely quoted as saying, "Develop for NeXTSTEP? I'd rather piss on it!"
Yeah, he says that then recruits from them. Why does this not surprise me. Didn't he also bash the internet and the world wide web even as late as say 93/94 -- calling it a fad ans saying it wasn't going to last. Then, in 95 turn around and start leveraging I.E. with Windows??

I know this comes off as old fashion MS bashing, but it's not. MS has a lot of great talent --- I just wish the businessmen who run the company would let them really innovate and develop. They jsut might surprise themselves.

I'm not simply trying to bash gates, but think of how much he and microsoft could have learned by simply being involved in a project like this. Yea, NeXT would have probably still failed, and yes Gates would have lost some money, but it could have been a real investment in knowledge.

    1) Click the link, goto his page, and generate an extra hit for his column. That of course deprives us of a good joke and lets him go "look bos, i got lots of hits"."

    2) We can sit and bitch about it.

However, perhaps --- just maybe --- there is another option. Why not contact the advertisers and let them know that we are not goign to support them if they support him. Its as simple as going to the page, seeing whos ad banner is up there, and then writing them a FRIENDLY letter. Of course, copy that letter to Mr. Moody and to CBS.Com.

Now, I've been to the page three times now and have seen an ad for the weather chanel, one for Ditech.com ( a lending company), and one for a cbs show about hookers (wish i was making that up). Find out who else is posting ads there. If its an ad for an ABC tv show, then email them and say you will not being watching that show because of his post.

Above, i made sure to put the word FRIENDLY in all caps because that is just how the letter should be written. Be professional, be brief, but make sure to let them know WHY you dont support him or his rantings.

Trust me, if slashdot can bring down websites and ftp sites with a simple post, then surely we can make have an effect here.

On a side note, you could also nmap the web page of an ad sponser and find out if they are running Linux. If they are, then have them ask their IT team what they think of linux.

In fact, the biggest problem I found was getting used to wolverine being so small. However, that's more the fault of the artist drawing him in the comic book than the movie. He had always been descibed as small. chris Claremont even called "scrawny" on several occasions. So, in an odd twist, the movie had a better portrayal of him than the original comic book. And, any fan will love all the extras in there, like the comment about yellow spandex.

Speaking of extras, maybe someone who ACTUALLY WATCHED the movie can asnwer something. There was the scene in the class where the kid makes the fireball and Iceman freezes it. Storm called the the kid who made the fire ball "Jonny". Now, isnt the human torch from the Fantastic Four also named jonny? I know the human torch isnt a mutant, but any one think maybe Byan Singer was just having a little fun in there.
