This is not the first Linux PDA we're promised.
I remember Yopy, which made me drrol just with the bare specs. But what has happened to the Yopy in the meantime? Does anyone know? I'd still love to get one (but a production version, not the developer kit !)
I could well imagine a PDA with a hardware and the related performance similar to the IPAQ, but Be-based OS running on it. Would that be better than an IPAQ? I think it's worth contemplating the possibility, it's sounds appealing to me.
What do you think, folks?
Just my 2 cents worth of experience with notebooks:
We're the internet development department of a marketing company in Vienna, Austria.
Our "creative" folks of course use apples, while the techies (and one "enlightened" projektmanager;-) )use Dell Latitude notebooks and we're quite happy with the notebooks as such and the support from Dell we get. My fellow techie and I recently installed Linux as altenative OS (SuSE 7.1) and it works just fine. All important hardware was properly recognized (even sound was no problem at all) and they run and work smooth and fine.
The big question for me is just when and where can
I buy a yopi?
I live in Austria, where such "gadgets" usually
are released long after they are avalilable
anywhere else. But I would even be willing to travel
to New York to buy one (What better excuse is
there for a trip to NYC?)
A pretty good Hedy Lamarr Website can be found at www.hedylamarr.at . It's in German as well as in English, an offers some nice information about her Invention.
