Exactly the reason I was going to get one. That 'very close to stock Android' has me wondering why in hell they'll not be pushing out monthly security updates. Hell, I'd gladly take the data hit every month. It makes me wonder how long they'll even support it and if it will get Android 7, 8 and hopefully 9. My next phone will be my first outright purchased phone, and I hope to make it last at least five years. Not too long, IMHO, for a $300 phone.
They can't be too worried about it or they'd be either porting their games over to Linux entirely, or making them cross platform with Linux. Linux is the obvious choice because it's free, and current windows users can just duel boot into Linux to play games instead of ditching their current setup and purchasing a new, much higher costing, computer.
I don't see them even hinting to that option, however.
I really liked the price and specs of the G4+, and was seriously considering the 64 GB model. This news has tainted Motorola^w Lenovo handsets for me for the next few handset generations. I guess I'll wait the announcement of the new Nexis line next month. I hate the idea of no expandable memory, but if they can get me a 128Gig unit for a decent price, I'll be satisfied being able to store what I need until I get home and can transfer it to my file server.
(Please stop moding this guy down, even though an AC, he is right)
There were rumors that at least one of the license owners from the closest wet county, who now owns one of the three licenses (one license holder can own multiple businesses but the number of licenses is determined by population) in the county, was helping, but it was well know and publicized that the local churches were the major force behind it.
In other parts of the world evidence is always accepted even if someone broke laws to get it. IMHO that's the only logical way - if police illegally break into a house and find evidence a crime have been committed there the evidence is still real. Of course the police in question should get some time in prison too.
Yeah, good luck with that. The officers who violated your rights to get evidence will get, at most, a paid vacation while the "investigation" is on going. Hell, they may even be punished with an award of some type. Our forefathers lived in a world where this type of action was the norm, and saw fit to (try to) protect us from it.
You shouldn't try to talk shit about anyone behind their back. Anonymous rating/review sites are ripe for abuse and slander, and the info should be taken with a grain of salt, if not ignored altogether.
Tell that to all the Walmarts in Texas that can't sell booze.
That's due to religious oppression, not government. My county finally went wet after a long battle, spanning multiple voting cycles, with the religious fucks around here. You know what? The devil didn't set up camp on the County Courthouse like you'd though would happen according the them. As a matter of fact, the majority of crime is still committed by meth heads and there has been little to no change in alcohol related incidents. Still can't buy alcohol on Sundays though.. Fucking religious nuts pushing their beliefs on everyone else, then crying oppression when we try to do demand our right to do something they don't approve of.
Transistors will stop shrinking when they reach the smallest size possible for an electron to move from one side to the next. This will be one atom thick by 1 atom high for the emitter and collector, but I'm not sure what the base would require. Maybe two or three atoms to be able to control the flow? This is for digital transistors only, analog may need be much larger due to frequencies, polarity, rate of flow and all that rigmarole.
That wasn't the topic of this thread. I was stating that rural America (although I'm not sure if a town of ~10,000 is considered rural or not, although I feel it is as I have to drive 30 to 40 miles or shop online for anywhere other than Walmart) will most likely never see Google Fiber. The answer to your question is simple, however - pure greed.
He was talking about my comparison of the size of Texas to the EU in comparison to Sweden, not comparing Sweden to the US. His numbers are better than my visual comparison, which was way off. Gotta check my eyes, I guess...;/
I did say quick Google. In this image (the second thing shown me on a Google search) Texas appears to me to be about half, maybe a bit smaller, than the EU. Maybe it's not all of Europe and maybe it's blown out of proportions but a quick Google is a quick Google. My main point is still valid.
Outside of the U.S., there are countries are smaller than her smallest state. I'd wager a guess that the U.S. has more open space than the entirety of the EU. Hell, after a quick Google, Texas is damn near half the size of the EU. Come back when you have to lay a single cable across your country ten times just to get to the next population zone.
Maybe this will get us back to the idea that movies should portray a story instead of a bunch of action shots blowing things up and a line or two of dialog here and there.
They still existed even though we didn't know about them. Our knowledge of them may have been a probability, but they were always there, along with the countless others we know nothing about.
...Why is the Raspberry Pi so great for tinkerers?
Well for one it allows one to tinker with it easily. The only way to connect something to an android phone is via blue tooth or USB, both of which take way more effort to control than the PIO pins on the Raspberry Pi.
Yes escalators don't move location, but a toddler does and at quite a fast rate. This is why they must be kept in control at all times when there is any chance of him scurrying away into danger. This security robot moves, and the parents could see that but still left their baby get hurt by it. My guess is they thought it was cute and wanted a picture with it. And before you ask, no I don't have proof of that, but I don't need proof for a guess.
Yes, exploration is mandatory, but not 100% of the time. Would you let your toddler explore out in the street? A mall is not much different other than the mobile objects (people) aren't as big, fast or deadly. People are window shopping, not looking down for your toddler running around unsupervised.
My point here is that malls are not someplace for toddlers and small children to be let loose to explore. Keep control of them, and keep toddlers in a stroller.
I wouldn't have let my child close enough a 300 lb robot not designed for the child's entertainment to get bumped into in the first place. It's just as easy to see an object is moving as it is to see if it is stationary. Nothing you can say can take the fault of this from the parent who let her 16 month old get hurt at a mall.
I didn't know this, I thought they were strictly ISP.
Doesn't Google provide only internet? Why would they have to provide government channels and public access studios?
Lenses are analog so have no pixels at all, unless you count each photon as a pixel.
WTF are you storing on your PHONE, FFS?!?
Umm.. Pictures just taken? It's always with me, unlike my DLSR.

Sorry 'bout that... /rant

The major thing about all the open space is that it lays between all the small towns.

I live in a town of ~10,000. My great grandchildrens generation might see Google Fiber here.

You mean count the number of things we don't know exist? OK then, you give it a go.
Too bad 99% of those jobs will be in overseas manufacturing and the vast majority of that $82 billion will be into the bank accounts of the wealthy.
Oh, don't fret little man, the drones will be used on you so you'll not be left out of the loop.
