No, should probably shouldn't let your child run amock, but allowing your kid to walk without being tethered isn't a bad thing,...
It was in this case. I think the only concern for a parent is to keep their child safe from all hazards. Would you blame the escalator company or mall if you're in an unfamiliar mall and your child fell down the escalator you didn't know was five feet from you? I'm sorry, but there is no excuse for a toddler getting hurt in a mall that takes full blame away from the parent/guardian who's care that child is currently in. By all means, let your child run free and explore - in areas that are safe to do so, but do not take your child and allow it to wonder off while you're looking at the blingidy bling in the window.
That is what strollers are for. You should not allow your 16 month old baby to run freely in a crowded mall, especially in todays world, and you most definitely don't allow them to run freely around a 300 pound robot not designed to be an entertainment device for children.
My concern is why did these parents let their 16 month old child far enough away from them that it got run over by a 300 lb robot? Do they often let their toddler run unwatched (by them) in a mall full of strangers?
Actually, the reboot isn't about science and exploration at all. It's about blowing things up and flashy CGI and odd POV shots. Hell, the Enterprise has been destroyed in every reboot movie IIRC. That's how much I think of the reboot shit, it's not even worth remembering two days after watching. Hell, there's less dialog and story in a two hour ST movie now than there is in a ten minute short.
Call me when your plumber "telecommutes" to fix your faucet.
There are millions of jobs out there that demand that you (or somebody) be present. Plumbing is just one of them.
Youtube fixed my bathroom faucet. I just provided the hands and tools.
The "convenience" of impulse buying, so more profit for Amazon.com. I used to order all kinds of crap three to four, sometimes up to six times a week. Now, since I've limited myself to placing things in my cart, then ordering only once a week, I find myself removing a bunch of crap I don't really need. Alexa, and those single-item order bobbets, bring back the impulse shopping with a vengeance. I foresee people who talk to themselves receiving all kinds of surprise packages on their doorstep.
Besides, the very idea of a device sitting in one's home constantly listening and sending every word out to 'the cloud' for analysis should freak everyone the hell out.
...typical Uber driver takes in more than $100,000 in annual gross fares.
Are they saying that the typical driver brings in $100,000 to Uber? If you take an Uber or taxi, the fare is brought in by the driver, then his pay is deducted from that.
The radical Islamics want nothing more than for the West to loose our freedoms, and they are winning that war big time here in the U.S. Fox News and CNN are their biggest and most effective weapons in that regard, and the American people are readily handing them over like candy on Halloween night.
Christ, Fox News' unyielding insistence on calling the Orlando shooting an act of terrorism by the radical Islamic State with no hard evidence, damn near before the sorry asses shells were cold, is proof of their desire to spread fear all in the name of ratings.
It's my understanding this was offered to poor countries in general, not directly any country, let alone Bolivia. So is Bolivia offended that they have to not fill out the donation paperwork for chickens in order to not get said chickens? Or they offended that there's a donation out there that they don't need, therefor cannot take advantage of? Either way, Bolivia needs to get over it and just not take the chickens instead of bitching about something other countries can and will use.
Sorry, it's been a while for me since high school economics. I was concentrating on all the job figures they were throwing in there and wondering how many of those are H-1Bs.
If you take into account the money the H-1B "employees" send back home? In other words, are they counting the wages paid, as reported by the industry, or the actual wages spent within the U.S.? They also need to account for the lesser pay earned the H-1B's. Those figures should be higher if everyone was payed the fair market wage.
"By combining forces, we significantly increase our competitiveness and extend our product range," Daetwyler Chairman Ulrich said in a statement, "facilitating a one-stop shopping experience for our wide range of customers from a multitude of industries."
Marketing speak for we've just cornered the market.
So, Elon Musk want's to become the next L. Ron Hubbard? Scientology isn't enough of a hairbrained "religion", now we need to bring Tron and/or The Matrix into the religious text club?
... The biggest drawback is you have to leave the lid up and the seat down, but that drawback wouldn't quite apply to hypothetical cat people.
The only drawback I see in it is having to remember to put the seat down when you're done. I guess living with a toilet trained cat is the same as living with a woman with the exception that a woman may not shit on the floor next to the toilet whey you forget.
You need to do that anyway if you're going to look at your dashboard or your satnav's display.
When you look down at the instruments, you know you need to look back up to drive safely. Most people can barely operate the automobile as it is, and you want them to believe they can't focus on the HUD full time? Sorry, but the majority of the population (driving or not) are not overly intelligent. Something like this will confuse the hell out of them and cause more accidents, especially with those that think it's a good idea to text while driving (further evidence of the lack of intelligence in the general population).
The general population has no idea how to use a HUD, it would cause more problems than it solves. Military pilots train hundreds of hours to properly use a HUD, your average driver will end up focusing on the pretty-shiny-flashy objects two feed in front of them rather than the light that just turned red and the pedestrian that just stepped out because he has a walk sign and is looking at his phone instead of watching traffic. I really don't think we need HUD systems for the general population, ever.
No, we need self driving cars if we ever want to be safe from the idiots behind the wheels.
There are people today who are concerned that there is DNA in their food..
Perhaps the highly processed crap most people eat today doesn't have DNA left in it, but real food pretty much has to have DNA in it to be able to provide any sustenance.
Both Adblocks, AFAIK, only block adds. NoScript, or uScript will help with the tracking cookies and scripts. I've also started using Ghostery which is designed specifically for tracking.
What would Apple do if another U.S. company invested $1 billion in a Chinese company that most likely infringed on one or more of their patents? I'm not saying I agree with patents on business models or methodologies, but since they exist, this is a legitimate question.
If they want to do away with surge pricing, how about charging the same price at all times? Surge pricing is just them being greedy and raising the price when they know they can get more. It cost Uber the same per ride no matter the time of day or demand.
I know exactly how it happened. The parent allowed their 16 month old to run freely around in a mall.

Except for the lawyers. Lawyers always get paid.

They still haven't fixed the scrollbar problem for Ubuntu dark themes they introduced in 46. Back to 45 for me again.

The problem is, you need to refocus.
You need to do that anyway if you're going to look at your dashboard or your satnav's display.
