I am fortunate in my career as I turn a screwdriver and route information "over the wire".
I am also renovating my house, an old barn, myself.
If my chosen profession goes away, unlikely as it is, I can always be a carpenter or an electrician.
As I tell my daughter "only a fool refuses to work with their hands".
If the "news" reporting agencies in this country would quit performing their best Monica Lewinsky impersonations they would not have to worry about polling their readership.
Objective reporting would attract readers of all stripes since the who, what, where, when and why, AKA facts (not opinions) are what we, the news consumers, are looking for.
Indeed, I work for an OEM on the imaging (X-Ray) side of the house. My system(s) do get patched regularly. The users are given specific instruction not to "Surf the web".
These systems are usually on a network segment dedicated strictly to imaging yet somehow I manage to find all fashon of virus (Most recently Conficker) games and saved email attachments on the Desktop.
The FDA is very strict about how these systems are to be upgraded and serviced but patching is a non issue.
My company has a simple solution to the virus issue though, If the network admin allows the cluster to get infected, we will gladly remove the infection, for a price.
If I have only had a penny for every time I have heard "It's not my network, check your equipment"
We still have to bridge the gap between 'should' and 'can.' No one likes having a bunch of homeless old people living on the street eating out of the trash.
Agreed, but when/where do we assign personal responsibility? I have made bad decisions in my life and always pay the price.
I refuse to be held accountable for every on else's mistakes as well, I am having enough troubles dealing with my own thank you!
if ANYONE had ANYTHING on Bush he would have been impeached a long time ago...
This tells me that they are all corrupt, we NEED a viable third (or more) political party(ies)!
Namely someone who respects the Constitution.
Harry, you are right, the US sucks, we are all awful people...
*sigh*
Funny thing is, we keep electing people who are doing all of this stuff "on our behalf"
I grew up in Clearwater Florida, one of their, uhmm, headquarters. This is one whaked out group of folks!
I thought only white American men could do such things.

If I want opinion I will read Ann Landers.
Good riddance Boston Globe!
Would you be allowed to modify your imaging machines so that they could be monitored via SNMP?
Legally, no.
Nothing is permitted on an FDA controlled device which has not been validated by the manufacturer of said device.

Some of us probably won't even then...
I am just too darn proud of being an American!
Now that would be nice...
