Apple would have never had the success it has had with ios if the development environment cost money. So that was Apples choice, I'm not going to feel lucking because they made that choice to benefit themselves. Furthermore, avoiding one of the two mobile OSes is a terrible business decision. I'm not thinking you understand business very well.
1) You must be some business genius if you can afford to ignore half the market. I can't, so I must develop for ios. There are beliefs and there are financial and economic realities
2) It's no game; can I buy a motherboard for my mac pro and replace it myself?
Furthermore I'm calling bullshit on the whole 'apps can share files' thing. I recently got an iphone to use as a test device and I just wanted to use it as an mp3 player, but I didn't know what media player I wanted to use. So I downloaded VLC which has a web server embedded to transfer files up. I'm thinking... ok this is crap but at least I don't have to use itunes. So I use it to upload my music. I didn't like VLC on iphone to I tried media player X. I install media player X and I CAN'T SEE ANY OF THE FILES I UPLOADED WITH VLC. Media player X has another shitty internal web server. Like that it just a crap solution... And yes this was the latest version of ios.
I wonder how this relates to the increase of people relying on social services? I mean, if you are on welfare and you only have shitty options for jobs I really can't blame people for staying on welfare.
Honestly, the biggest disservice people are going to themselves here is expecting ANY solution to be a total solution. You know what? Regulate guns and people will still die from guns, and there will still be bad people with guns. But what almost every other developed nation in the world shows us is that you vastly reduce gun violence if you put a limit on the kind of gun a person can own. I mean, gun deaths are 10 TIMES HIGHER in the US than they are in Canada for crying out loud. Are there some bad people in Canada with guns? Absolutely! But yet very little gun crime. To be fair there was one mass shooting in 1989 in Montreal, but that's pretty much it. But at least parents don't have to be afraid about sending their kids to school.
A Chevelle Malibu was cheaper in 1970 (by 1970 dollars) than it is today in current dollars. Cars have not gotten cheaper. They are more expensive to buy and WAY more expensive to maintain because of the increased complexity.
Well, I don't see much evidence in the US and from all these complaints about misdiagnosis that it is possible for a company to be altruistic... I'm just calling it how I see it here.
Well-posted. Of course, no one will respond to you. I have an uncle that went through the same thing. Of course no one will reply to you because you make too much sense. I'm glad you found your way.
It's difficult to say whether this individual would have done the same thing without antidepressants or not. The thing that is for sure is that his doctor didn't do a very good job in giving him the meds for his condition. It sounds like a lot of medications are prescribed for profit in the US, and Americans really need to figure out how to solve that problem, one solution being a single payer system. If you really knew how many people ALL AROUND YOU get diagnosed correctly and are able to move on with their lives due to these meds, then you wouldn't be calling for a ban.
It is plain to see that you don't have depression, because if you did you would think differently.
Being truly depressed is like being in a dark place you can't get out of. You get a new job, but it is still there. You exercise, but it is still there. If it's an anxiety-type, then it can keep you up all night worrying about things that don't matter. You tell yourself that it doesn't matter, but it doesn't make a difference because your brain goes to that dark place and it doesn't make a difference. It's like trying to will yourself out of having a headache. You try to sleep, but your body is being flooded with adrenaline. In turn, the problems snowball.
What you are talking about may happen, but that is a totally separate issue that comes from the whole fact that America allows pharmacy companies to make the most money if they sell something new. The whole profit-for-drugs structure is the problem.

A lot of people here need to take a good read on what depression is. Too many people here are confusing sadness with real depression and it's not even worthwhile having a conversation. If you can change something about a person's life and they become happy, then they were never depressed in the first place.
It comes down to what an addiction is..... if you can't sleep at night because you are pacing the room and panicking about the type of daily events that most other people would just forget about, and you take a pill that makes it stop... are you addicted because you don't want to go back to that again??

If large companies allow the game to be about growth, then small companies may be able to push them out of business.
Actually, farming communities worked an average of 10 hours a week once you consider the long break between growing seasons.
I prescribe you a week without Slashdot, you will feel much better.
My wife has chronic migraines, and they didn't measure her pain receptors before prescribing her migraine meds.

When was the last time someone walked into a school and knifed 13 students to death in one event?
Weapons technology has changed too much since 1946 for this to be valid.
Not yet.

And you need the time to do it. We're living in a world where people don't have time to shop at a grocery store, so time is a big issue.

Therapy treats underlying issues, but doesn't treat the chemical imbalance itself. It's like expecting a therapist to cure your headache.
Because I'm sure no one who is depressed and doesn't get treated ever commits suicide.
Man you sound like a Scientologist explaining how there is no evolution.

If giving a person a job makes them "un-depressed" then they have been misdiagnosed.
