The fact that there are greater than zero H-1Bs brought into the country to do what you do AUTOMATICALLY means you are a scarce resource, and the market dictates you should charge higher prices for your work.
But your fight is really the same as every one else's... if there weren't so many people coming over on a visa that are poorly trained, then your problem goes away eventually.
Read my words. Most people are done with that shirt before it has a hole in it, because of the perception that it is out of style. Plus even my cheapest T-shirts last 5-7 years, and I have cats that tear into them frequently.
Being the final authority doesn't mean he is allowed to operate unilaterally. All it means is if someone in the CIA is confused about it and no one else in the CIA knows the answer, they ask the president.
That's great, except 1) it erodes all sense of checks and balances in US democracy, and 2) it gives more power to Trump than any US president ever. In the lead up to the election many people said that Trump wouldn't really be able to take advantage of the presidency because of these checks and balances. Now here we are, the American public is renting his property for the privilege of him using it, paying for expensive vacations, and who knows what else once he puts someone in charge of the CIA who will be his monkey puppet.
It should be at least a wage HIGHER than the local market wage. Because that's how the market is supposed to work. If you cannot draw people in at the current wage, then you pay more.
The American consumer buys more of everything than they really need. Unless they are all out there buying pants and completely wearing them out before they buy new pants, there is lots of room for them to simply pay more for the pants and use them longer. This goes for most products. The problem is that Americans can't get over buying the next new shiny/trendy thing. Again, not the end of the world if they are forced to by way of higher prices.
Why would anyone bribe a president that dispenses highly classified data for free? Plus I'm sure there are bribes, they are just obscured in business dealings.
But unfortunately people have to go through a great amount of effort these days in order to get a job in any place, so the place where they do get a job should treat them ethically.
Because at least their ability to treat you differently or make you feel a certain way due to their beliefs are drastically diminished, which is the real issue in a work place. It's a lot easier for them to destroy your resume if they are allowed to carry on overtly.
You are the one being selfish, because you want to behave any way you want without consequences. I am mandating that people be sensitive to others around them, which is the opposite of selfish.
So a professional carpenter works doing renovations on people's houses. Upon visiting a new customer to see the work, they lead off the conversation by saying "I had two women at once last night!" That's not going to go very well for them. Professional decorum is the behavior that is most likely to get them the job, which is not to say anything that might be offensive to someone.
It's fucking hard to find a job. Now you expect people to keep looking for a job until they find one without assholes? That's ridiculous. It would be different if in the job interview they made a point of saying that they were a bunch of insensitive assholes so work here at your own risk, but they don't do that DO THEY?
Talk how you want on your personal time is your business. When you are in a professional setting you be sensitive to the requirements of the people in that setting. What would you do if you went to an important business meeting and talked about sex only to find the peopl you were meeting with were devoutly catholic?
I"m surprised to see people defending this behavior. If talking about sexual exploits at work is considered acceptable then society is truly going down the toilet. What a great new America you are building there.
GIven the problems I have been having with Slashdot since the advertisements started popping up all over the place, I'm not surprised at all. I almost have a seizure every time I load the page and the ad at the top makes the content shift all over the place.
From what I have seen you have to pay for the plan even to be able to buy it for that $9. Do they sell phones for that little that you can use for Android apps on wifi without a plan?
The only way to be secure is to remove all extraneous code. For an automated car, the GUI in windows XP is extraneous. Supporting every device is extraneous. It is much better to go with something like openbsd where every line of code can realistically be reviewed and scrutinized.

I always touch the Siri button when I hit delete. It's very annoying. Then I have to go grasping for the nonexistant ESC key.
Well because the job market is fair and no one would game it.. right?

How is that better?

My only point was that the people expecting to be able to go to work and not have to deal with people like that is perfectly reasonable.
A free society does not mean you can do anything you want. Those are two very different things.
Of course Apple takes their time to fix it. Most Apple customers will think their phone is worn out and go buy a new one!

It's about being professional. Professionalism is definitely taking a hit in tech.

There is a huge difference between talking about whether it is a boy or a girl and talking about refusing to wear a condom.
