Right, people here tend to appreciate full sentences and proper grammar.

If you try to fix this problem, then you're stepping on the corporations right to make more and more profit, which is apparently god-given or something.

Follow the news bro.. Speed Queen is changed as of last year, many people are turned off.

The solution is simple, double the mandated warranty period. Let companies worry about keeping the products working for that long, and while some people will choose to replace before the warranty is up, they will be useful longer to the next owner. Less will get thrown out.

I also find it hard to believe just any person would get hacked. Is this actually a common thing, that an anonymous individual would have a high speed internet connection with a proper firewall not open to vulnerable software would get 'hacked' on multiple occasions? Perhaps there is something about this person that is making them a target, and the solution is to stop doing that. If you have ports open, take a good look at the software. Use non-standard ports if you have to. That kind of thing.

  9. Exactly, Amazon seems to be a 4000 pound leech on cities. If they are only causing problems and not providing enough income through taxes (and personal income taxes) to balance the problems they cause, then what is the point of keeping them happy? The point of a city is to be a healthy and habitable place for people. If Amazon isn't going to contribute to that goal then good riddance.

It would be nice if they would release ChomeOS so that you could download it and use it to 'repurpose old laptops' like the summary says.

  11. To me the obvious solution to this is to simply charge the tax and let Amazon move. Techsters don't mind moving for a job, so they'll just follow with no issues. Consider the upward pressure on housing costs officially relieved.

  12. I'd take Win 10 over OSX or iOS any time. I've been using the latter two for awhile now and feel severely limited by them when compared to Win 10. I've never been a fan of Microsoft or its business practices but I feel some credit is due. For one thing, I've never bought hardware and found it didn't work on Windows.

  13. You're just being an idiot. I already said they weren't right around the dust. Apparently the macbook is so fragile it should have been taken out of the house altogether.

  14. So I'm supposed to remove all latops and electonics from my house because I'm doing renovations? Oh no, nothing ELSE has a problem. My Thinkpads were dine, my audo equipment was fine. It's the Macbook that requires special treatment. Maybe that's why everyone is saying THIS IS A HARDARE DEFECT.

  15. It's not just about life and death though. Babies that survive with serious deficiencies become a major drain on parents, healthcare, and society at large.

  16. you forgot. 'like ShanghaiBill'.

  17. In America, nothing gets done without money attached. The concept of doing things to help people is lost.

  18. You hit the nail on the head there. No company tells you the truth about longevity and there is no way to know until these laptops get old enough to experience issues. Totally unfair to blame the consumer for this.

  19. Eating cookies on the beach while using my laptop sounds like a fairly awesome life to me!

  20. I believe they have always been vented through the keyboard. I don't see vents anywhere else like I do on my Thinkpads. I wondered about the same thing too when I read about the keyboard covers.

  21. Re: Class action = Only winners are the lawyers on Class Action Suit Filed Against Apple Over the Keyboards in MacBook Pro and MacBook Laptops (theoutline.com) · · Score: 1

    1) An automobile is way more expensive then a laptop, 2) Automobile warranty's last way longer than on a laptop, 3) What does this have to do with anything? So Mercedes sucks as well apparently. That's between Mercedes and their customers.

  22. Uh no, I'm not going to pay good money to solve problems on an expensive 'pro' machine that shouldn't be there in the first place. If Apple had recommended such a keyboard cover as part of a purchase, as a measure to make their laptops last in normal environments then I could have made an educated decision. But they don't do that, because then it would hurt their laptop sales. Honestly, I didn't even know keyboard covers existed and I think that is ridiculously complicated. I've always had Thinkpads and the keyboards have always been fine.

  23. Why the hell do you spend extra on a laptop then? I get a laptop precisely because I DON'T want to be tied to a desk. Sometimes I even work outside where it is DIRTY *gasp*.

  24. I'm guessing you clean your house a lot and you don't have a lot of pets.

  25. Any house with pets is going to have a lot of dust as well.
