After using Apple/Solaris for +/-20 year (love to use HW with the OS coming from the same vendor; meant something in the past now it is just a false sense of security with a bit of nostalgic.
Anyway switched to MS Surface PRO 4 i7 16GB 256 SSD just before the new ones where available. Costs including 2 pencils and keyboard ~1800 euro's + 2 year warranty, new stuff is all 1 year. I still cannot find anything that beats this machine price/performance wise.
Use scoop.io and conemu and you are done. Use case: I code mostly Java, configure systems and analyze 4k pictures and movies...
Fun Fact: My Apple Mini Display port adapter dit not work anymore while connecting to my Macbook Air, SP4 just works. Another plus point, given that my previous stuff where MacBook Air's I already had most of the accessories, like cables, bags, connectors, usb hubs, covers, bags, etc, etc
After closing Reader and some other stuff which was useful for me (4 or 5 different products), I moved everything I need into my private cloud. For news, I still love FreshRSS, card,- and caldav are baikal based, The rest is just simple smtp, bind and some other core services.
P.S I'm writing a comment but for the love of some uber being can't figure out on what.... I can become a fan of slashdot on Facebook... no just refused a job there. There is some agile SAP to download.... sorry laughing SAP and Agile in one sentence. .
Preview looks good, but won;'t tell me where this comment is going.... see subject
..."Er...OK. Please name another 64-bit laptop CPU, running a decent laptop OS...."
Well depends on your definition of decent but what about this? It's certainly 64-bit, it is also big and heavy, it is ugly but it is a laptop and it has been around for quiet a while...

This just sounds like the dhcp manager (/usr/sadm/admin/bin/dhcpmgr) which ships with Solaris 8/9...but it's a java application and not web based (well ssh X tunneling, exporting Display and xhost + is sort of web based isn't it??;-).With this thing I'm doing exactly the stuff at home (on a lesser scale of course), which you intend to do at your work....
Hmm Bill opens a dos box types in exit and dos is gone. I went to a friend of mine and did a 'start-> run -> cmd 'on his XP..... hmmm looks like a dos box to me let's try 'dir'.... hmm looks like it works... 'edit somefile.txt'....hmmm works. Type exit and the dos box is gone.....
What do they mean by dos is gone??....I have a dos box and bunch of working commands...

It's a brave statemant.
sounds to me that you actually have something to hide.
How uses FreeBSD anyway???
Me and a couple of other guys at this little hardware company how also invented this thing called Java;-)
P.S. Big thanks to Watson!!
Totally agree on that.
I'm working in a team with guys using linux and developing java. Guess what, they never complain and are happy using Linux and developing Java.
You actually think Visual Age is a good product??? Yes if you use it in combination with WebSphere (?) and DB2...
Their JDK, which is actually faster than Sun's jdk is giving me strange behaviour like stuff running using Sun's jdk but not really running using IMB's jdk.
If I have a Sparc driven machine why should I use
this toy for Intel(and now also for Sparc) called Linux??
I even removed Linux on my Intel box and installed Solaris x86.(Don't worry FreeBSD is still installed).
No we should fire our project managers for doing such a bad job. At the end it's always their fault that we don't have enough time to do stuff in a proper way.
