"Since there is no reason to download a file without opening it..."
Just because there is no reason for you to do so, doesn't mean there is no reason for me to do it. I might just want to test the speed of my network connection.
Thanks. I'll give it a try - I wasn't sure about whether you still needed the kernel patch in the 2.4 series - that probably explains why I can't get Xv to work...
Yeah but java, much as I love it for server side apps., has a visually very poor set of gui components.
Also it's not always suitable for client side apps. If you just want to pop up a couple of windows with a menu gtk+ would be a much better option. Plus you have all the inbuilt skinnability of gtk.
That's why when I buy a new CPU I generally go for the _second_ fastest at the time. It is generally a lot cheaper, and after a few months who cares anyway.
I don't think it would kill the speed; what you could do is, every millisecond or so choose a process @ random (or cycle through a list) and query it as to what code it is running.
Also, why would it not work for kernel threads ? You could use one of the debugging tools.
would be to have this diagram as a screen saver, and then to show small moving dots on the diagram showing exactly where each process was within the kernel.
I wonder how difficult that would be to implement ?
Maybe that's what the 'number stations' are for...
Any mathematicans care to explain it ?
That is a very good point...(well your first one anyway - CDR's are already subject to a 'copyright tax' in Germany).
Is this a custom version of Mesa ?
And on a similar subject, has anybody got X 4.0.2 working properly with nvidia ?
Every time I try to run tuxracer, evas or gltron my X server crashes. It's annoying the hell out of me.
Salsaman.

Thus you could open a mozilla browser from within IE.

You mean like a virus that installs Linux ;-) ?
Or even worse, makes a news site with TRUE information.
Ok, so point me to the drivers for my RivaTNT2 card. I'm running linux 2.4 and XFree86 4.0.2
All your kernel are belong to us.
Sounds about right ;-)
Errr..based on NT, which was a graphical hack of VMS...also from the 1970's

Works for me.
If he was really smart, he'd make these chips run embedded linux and apache, an give 'em an IPv6 address too.
See this recent satire on segfault
Shouldn't they be trying this out in California ?
Yeah, it is sick. They could have got them to produce beer instead...

Sex is a non-zero sum game. Though I don't recommend playing it with children.
