    You are right about radio and tv equipment being disturbed, but trains moving on there own is bullshit.

    2.45Ghz to be exact.
    Although they are shielded they still produce a lot of noise (because a typical microwave can have up to 1000 Watts of output power). Most wavelan devices should besides a bandwith drop not have any real problems with it. Video transmitters do have problems with it!

    Actually it is not up to the manufacturers since they cannot choose the frequency band which will be available and on 2.4 Ghz there are different channels. BTW do you know where microwave ovens operate? 2.45 GHz... Jeroen

    Ofcourse they are not licensed, the whole idea behind this frequency band is that you don't need to have a license as long as you are using approaved low power equipment.

    It has been 230V in almost every eu country for years.... not that it matters much, the difference is well whithin the minimum tolerance for electrical appliances

    1.5k is a little low I think, with 30mA being lethal as you say that would mean 45Volts...

    I don't think so, in an ideal system you wouldn't have to keep authorities on their toes.... But the fact remains that people often judge others on things other than facts. When emotion and prejudice get involved it always goes wrong.

    Taking law into your own hands is _always_ wrong. Even is somebody is 'guilty' in your eyes! You are not a judge, judges (or a jury for the americans) can declare somebody guilty not you.

    If everybody was judging everyone then there won't be many left afterwards.

    I think you got that wrong, now non-US ISPs pay US undersea-cable companies. After the change non-US and US isps are going to pay the undersea-cable companies. If they are US-based then there is less money coming into the us.

    Well, there is the obvious number theory rule that odd+odd=even. Since all primes >2 are odd...

    These problems are all caused by the policies of the governments in those countries. How many times has food that has been given to poor nations been taken and given to the military?

    Just sending food will keep them happy for few days/weeks/months and will give you the feeling of being a great humanitarian, but it won't solve the problem. You are right about the information though, on the long term (education takes time) this will help them.

    A much bigger problem is the exploitation by the rich. Large corporations are making millions over the backs of poor people. And don't say they are helping them because this would imply making them more expensive to hire and less profit. These companies want to keep them poor.

    Although it is not their first need, you do have a point. Access to information is one of the first needs for a good education, which in time will result in a better way of live for them.

    I have to admit I was confused at first to....
    Although the check mark here (The Netherlands) is used mostly as possitive (correct) the first thing I noticed was the red and green colors, not the shape.....

    With the better graphics programs (gimp does) you can set the compression ratio for jpeg, if you set it to 100% you won't have any loss at all.

    Actually a 386 can fill an 10meg (bits, not bytes) pipe. I tried it. It also depends a lot on the type of nic and protocol you use. You can't put any real data over it however since it can't do anything usefull anymore....
