I installed a Linux workstation (PC) and a Linux server (also a PC w/gnucash) in a small pizza shop that it local to the area not more than a few months ago.
Their previous application, "Pizza Shop," was DOS based program for accouting, etc, written in QuickBASIC of all things and was an utter piece of shit. They paid big bucks for this too.... and now GNUCash totally blows it away. It's great to see the free software community come through and deliver such good quality applications.
I'm designing an X based GUI (window manager) and am wondering what you would suggest for some reall y basic features.
Here's what I've come up with so far:
Movable scroll bars. They can be moved and placed at either side.
Movable title bars. This would also contain the window operations "buttons" as well. I'm also planning to allow the moving and custom situation of these buttons for maximum configurability.
Ok, now this one I'm still tossing around. Voice navigation. Using IBM's ViaVoice SDK I could add voice navigation. Do you think this is a good idea or just worthless fluff? I think it would be beneficial to those who either have desks so cluttered they cannot located a pointing device or need to work faster (such as a support desk type of job, etc).
Most importantly I want to make it as modular as possibly with very little built into the core WM. This is important to ensure that most people can make use of it. I'd like it to run fairly well on at least a 486DX2-66 and 16-20MB of RAM.
If you turned your microwave on, with the door open (if you could) and stood there.. or if you just had a leak, the only thing that would happen is you would heat up. it wouldn't mutate your DNA, it would just increase your body temperature. Granted, if this happened rapidly, or in a focused area, it could be dangerous.... but that's all it does.
Actually, I believe, due to the design of most microwave ovens very little radiation actually will escape the cavity even if the door is open. In fact in microwave ovens there are "hot spots" where the radiation is distributed unevenly.
Yeah. The 2.4GHz cards are only around 50mW too I think. The older 900MHz WaveLAN cards ran about 200mW. These are less susceptible to "rain fading" and vegetation attenuation. Despite having bandpass filters on the cards paging services can still be a problem if you live close to a transmitter, otherwise they are probably better for longer distance networking than 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz equipment.
People who use high power with this are EVIL. They should just accept the fact that the phone company is going to rape them in the ass and smile! I mean, if you could run say 5 watts then why buy a T1?? Shit, a lot of the T1s around here would be just a big waste of cash to keep around. I mean you should just be incredibly happy get the joy of paying $16 or more a month for outdated analog trash. The phone company loves the consumer!
It is the truth. I just got done reading a few stories of how the RIAA has harassed many in the past for just having the fucking radio on. That's fucking ridiculous.
They are doing anything it seems to remain a relevant company. They don't care about opensource, they just want to sell "Linux solutions" and doing things like opening parts of Irix turns heads and gets them recognized as a "Linux company."
The fact that they don't help to aid the so called community that they like you to think they care about certainly shows this. By hoarding now practically worthless software they are only pissing off the hobbyist population that now owns many of the 4D series machines they made.

There's a few to start you off.

I have ISM stuff that has 'N' connectors on it. Pretty fucking common if you ask me.
my MAC address is 00:DE:AD:00:BE:EF
