I mean god damn, it's not like it already hasn't been said 80 times. I know I'll get modded down for this but I don't give a fuck. Go ahead. m0D m3 d0wN. fUcK d4 m0DzZzZ.
Oh, wow, that's nice. Let them bring suit against you in China. Who gives a fuck. It won't matter. What the hell can China do about it? That's like saying that not only am I supposed (I use "supposed" lightly here) to obey US law but now Chinese law is binding? Give me a break pal.
I just installed this a little while ago. I think they need to mainly work on the controls and the reliability of the game in general. It crashed 3 of the 5 times I ran it.
I like the game's concept though. Looks like it's going to be pretty cool if they get some of this stuff worked out. It's also nice to see more games for Linux because games are often reasons people who would normally use Linux for everything have to boot into "that other OS." Anyways, I personally welcome any Linux app, open or closed source.
While it's sad to junk a spacecraft like this, it is important to do so to make sure any future experiments involving Europa have more validity.
I'd rank the value of the spacecraft less than any experiment that shows that there is indeed life on that moon. But then again, how can we be completely sure that the spacecraft which may eventually search for organisms on Europa is completely sterile? It's an interesting dillemma.
I do a lot of consulting work in the area and put in such a "solution" (god that word is overrated/overused) for a small local ISP. They insisted on BSD/OS (all of their other machines were BSD/OS except one SCO OpenServer box; familiarity I guess) so I decided to give Squid a shot. I must say it worked and is still working quite nicely for them. I generally find BSD/OS to be roughly equivalent of FreeBSD give and take on certain things. I even configured it to work with MRTG to deliver stats. Look for a package called "mrtg-for-squid." It's pretty damn cool.
that there are many here who do not give a damn about ftp/www/mail/dns etc. I personally just want a pipe with a small subnet. I can run all of the services I need for myself (well except maybe news).
Good luck getting any of this from a cable company. They don't care. If they had fair competition they might change their tune and then again maybe not.
crying about how the everything is going to be clogged you evidently don't understand the term "broadband." Broadband, unlike baseband (ethernet), allows you to "channelize" the medium. Each channel has only a certain amount of bandwidth. Your cable modem is on one of these channels. Now, (i don't know if it's feasible to do this with current cablemodem tech) the competitor can put their cable modems on their *own* channel and this will not effect the bandwidth of your ISP's channel. To me this seems to be the most elegant solution there is to open access. Most cable operators would only have to set aside around 5-10 channels for cablemodem use if this avenue is followed. I see problems with routing based on IP or other protocol level means of providing open access. Some of those being a clogged pipe (channel in this case) and packet filtering. This is a step in the right direction though, but don't forget AOL is doing it most likely to get the heat off of Congress to pass legislation mandating open access.
It's my understanding that you can a wired-to-wireless bridge, run a patch cable to it (connects to uplink port on a hub)
Unless it's a switched port that is. You don't want to be clogging the wireless link with garbage that doesn't actually need to go to the other building. Remember, you're on a shared medium to an extent so try to keep extraneous network traffic at a minimum. I'd suggest you use a router or even a PC/workstation as a router.

BTW, I ran this under RH 6.0, so YMMV.
