I also did not see alot of video authoring tools for BeOS, if it is a media OS then it sure as hell be able to support EVERY DAMN USB DEVICE I PLUG INTO IT and deal with all sorts of odd end storage devices, after all, video and even high quality still images, lake up alot of spac,e and youneverk now what sort of storage system I may be using, best to suppor thtem all.

There is a signifigent different between making an emulator and running illegial roms of that emulator. The Game Boy Advanced had an emulator aviable for it well before it's release. That emulator was obviosly not used to pirate games, but was instead used by fans of the system to design new games on their own. A worthwile prusuit that to the best of my knowledge wasn't delivered any legal notices (which is kinda rare for nintendo, they love handing out offical looking warnings to everybody;)

It IS 15KBp/s, verified numerious times with numerious local people. Actualy, that is 120Kbit so I am doing a fair bit better then a single channel ISDN line.

One reason for the lower speed limits on many connections is that the connections are installed in large urban area's all at once, as opposed to the piece meal system that Canada and Europe have going. When a single TelCo is passing through it the bandwidth of three of four major metropolitan cities, you HAVE to limit the bandwidth. Granted, their are multiple telco branches, but the telco itself is still paying for things by the byte/bit/whatever.
I live on top of the NW Gigapop (can damn nearly throw stones at it) so I am a BIT biased here, heh, my speeds tend to kick the shit out of anything that most people in the U.S. normaly get. I am also lucky, AT&T COMPLEATLY owns my city, and it turns out that who ever is in charge of running this place seems to be doing a damn fine job of it. Outages are almost nil, service is great, and the people actualy know what they are doing. That, and dispite the monopolistic status of AT&T in this area, they are keeping prices rock bottom low.

Your address is passed along to the server that you are downloading the file from, obviously, or else the server wouldn't know where to send the file.
Now then, with freenet the files are distributed over multiple sources. Which is perfectly nice, for making it hard to track who is DISTRIBUTING the files. But for who is retrieving them, hell, that is easy. Any half asses packet sniffer, or hell, if you are on dialup, a packet capture device hooked to your phone line that only activiates when you connect to the internet, could easily keep track of the requests you make and the files you download.
Err, now, wait, freenets FAQ states that it is not encryped safely! In fact, they say that they are less secure then remailers. What is more, you would have to go through a remailer style message delay to get true security.
You know how friggin ANNOYING a packet delay system would be if it was connected to a file transfer system?? Yet, this is the ONLY way that freenet will ever be secure. Well, that and high encryption levels combinded together with it.

Yet we can all agree that when the Emu P!r@t3 d8d3z put the Mario64 ROM up for grabs on the internet that they ARE breaking the law.
There is a signifigent different between making an emulator and running illegial roms of that emulator. The Game Boy Advanced had an emulator aviable for it well before it's release. That emulator was obviosly not used to pirate games, but was instead used by fans of the system to design new games on their own. A worthwile prusuit that to the best of my knowledge wasn't delivered any legal notices (which is kinda rare for nintendo, they love handing out offical looking warnings to everybody;)
Note that there would NOT have been a problem here if people have behaved responsbily and NOT pirated the music. The MPAA would have had NO problem with MP3's if they where not used illegialy. In fact, before Napster came around and brought MP3's to the publics popular attention, music pirating was quite rare compared to what it is today, and nobody gave a rats ass about it, least of all the MPAA. Well, mabye they cared SOMETHING about it, but not as much as they do now:)
People screwed up, they showed that they _COULD NOT_ handle the responsability that an open unsecure digital format requires. They screwed up. Look at is at a kid who gets to stay up an hour later as long as he gets up in the morning as well, and then proceed to sleep in until 12:00 the next school day. That kid's not gonna get to stay up late any more, especialy if the parents give the child multiple chances (it could have just been a fluke after all) and the kid repeatidly fucks up.
Well folks, ya repeatedly fucked up, now you can no longer stay up late, or rather, have as much control over your music. Ever pirated a song? Used napster? Guess what, your responsable for this yourself!! The MPAA wouldn't bother spending the MILLIONS of dollers that it is, if they didn't think they had something to get out of it. Did you really think you could try to screw over a major organization for _SO_ long and get away with it? Hah, fat chance.
I don't listen to music, so quite frankly I don't give a shit as to what EITHER of you two parties do, I think both sides are royaly fucked up and have their heads up their ass and aren't willing to see WTF is going on around them.

Seriously though, the main issue is that _EVERY_ other minority class out there is much better represented then the outcasts of society. Hell, there are gay rights groups, lesbian rights groups, black gay rights groups, asian gay rights groups, asian wiccan gay rights groups, black athlets who are being tauted support groups, and so on. Not a single group for people who are of ANY race ANY religion ANY sexual orintation but are not of the standard personality types. Hell, that is seriously screwed up!
The blame should be put on the parents of the bullies for raising piss ant kids. If you fuck up as a parent it is YOUR responsability. Teasing CAN BE FATAL, and parents who raise kids who do tease should be considered accomplices in murder, plain and simple.

For even more of a long term solution, try guilt. It does wonders. You see, if people feel GUILTY for hurting other people, then they won't do it. Bullies do not feel any guilt, the parents did not teach the bullies to feel guilt. Ooops, still the parents fault! Sure sure, after a certain age we have to start blaming the kid, but hell, when ever we hear about a jock drinking himself to death or horribly failing at robbing a store, we all wonder, WTF are that kids parents like.

How you ask? Well, I kinda cheated when I was mesuring the speed you see. Text is highly compressable, even if it is a legitimate docuement (which, by the way, it was). Compression on text allowed for me to easily get 2MegaBytes per second. Actualy, it was 2.2MegaBytes, but who is counting after that point, eh?
It IS 15KBp/s, verified numerious times with numerious local people. Actualy, that is 120Kbit so I am doing a fair bit better then a single channel ISDN line.
People abused the hell out of the "fair use" provision and have basicaly been stealing music for some time now. No no, don't bitch at me about right and wrong, YOU STOLE THE DAMN MUSIC, YOU BROKE THE LAW, GET OVER IT.

Sorry, not in there, not a single line of it. Fair Use also IS NOT COVERED when it comes to complete copying of stuff. In fact the CLOSEST thing we have to actualy fair use that applies to copying something for public distrobution is the copying of PARTIAL works and even then it is ONLY for some sort of academic/legal/educational/etc purposes. What do you mean low? I can pull downstream 2MegaBYTES per second. That is not low, that is kick butt fast. Hell, for $40 a month it is also a damn sweet deal!
One reason for the lower speed limits on many connections is that the connections are installed in large urban area's all at once, as opposed to the piece meal system that Canada and Europe have going. When a single TelCo is passing through it the bandwidth of three of four major metropolitan cities, you HAVE to limit the bandwidth. Granted, their are multiple telco branches, but the telco itself is still paying for things by the byte/bit/whatever.
I live on top of the NW Gigapop (can damn nearly throw stones at it) so I am a BIT biased here, heh, my speeds tend to kick the shit out of anything that most people in the U.S. normaly get. I am also lucky, AT&T COMPLEATLY owns my city, and it turns out that who ever is in charge of running this place seems to be doing a damn fine job of it. Outages are almost nil, service is great, and the people actualy know what they are doing. That, and dispite the monopolistic status of AT&T in this area, they are keeping prices rock bottom low.

What's more, since they have been forced to work in an enviroment where code resuse and readability are of some importance, you might actualy get lucky and have readable code on your hands, no promises though;)

Heya, first few games in the new "mega arcades" where a bit original. Hell, even house of the dead on those gigantic ass screens was original.
Shit, then the entire fun factor was over with when you released that at $1 per play, $1 per continue, MINIMUM (well, some games are $.75, but those are a rarity, ugh!) you where running out of money way to fast.
Oh yah, and gameplay was sacrificed for money making. Of course money is the objective, but they where so blatent about it. Forcing the player to die often times (House of the Dead2 comes in to mind, certian boss's where pretty much guarnteed to hit you) and even going so far as to have monsters be unbeatable for short periods of time while they got their licks in on you (not in plateformers either, I am talking about area51 style games here!!) made it quite obvious to the player that the game was AFTER their money.
Sure, sure, that thought is always in the back of your head, but while you are in some fantasy world blowing shit up, it should NOT be forced to the front of your mind by the game!!! I want a friggin fantasy land where I can kill shit left and right, if I have to pop a few quarters in now and then to keep the game a 'going then so be it, but hell, I am there for an adventure folks, I do not want to have my charecter lose life in what is plainly an attempt to rake in a few extra $$$'s on the part of the arcade company!

Most people seem to miss this, but over the internets current structure (TCP/IP) every computer has an address. Any other alternative system STILL REQUIRES AN ADDRESS. Your address is passed along to the server that you are downloading the file from, obviously, or else the server wouldn't know where to send the file.
Now then, with freenet the files are distributed over multiple sources. Which is perfectly nice, for making it hard to track who is DISTRIBUTING the files. But for who is retrieving them, hell, that is easy. Any half asses packet sniffer, or hell, if you are on dialup, a packet capture device hooked to your phone line that only activiates when you connect to the internet, could easily keep track of the requests you make and the files you download.
Err, now, wait, freenets FAQ states that it is not encryped safely! In fact, they say that they are less secure then remailers. What is more, you would have to go through a remailer style message delay to get true security.
You know how friggin ANNOYING a packet delay system would be if it was connected to a file transfer system?? Yet, this is the ONLY way that freenet will ever be secure. Well, that and high encryption levels combinded together with it.
