    First level is to be able to get the computer to do what you want. If you can do that, you have a career as a programmer. .....
    The next step is writing flexible software.

    I would beg to differ on step two.

    Step two would be understanding *why* the computer did what you wanted/
    Most developers I have worked with do not understand how a computer actually works. It's a magical black box to them.

    With insecurity by default, what's to stop someone from walking up to a door with a small power screwdriver, pulling a battery, and walking into your room in about the same time as it takes you to swipe a card and get in?

    I think many Gay people would disagree with you (Which would include all that I personally know).

    Just as many people who are born predisposed/with depression would disagree with you.

    You don't wake up one day and decide these things.
    Just like you didn't decide to be straight.

    If it's nature or nurture doesn't matter, either way it's not a decision.

    It truly won't be an issue when the tech industry is more aligned with the general population. We're not there yet.

    You don't often hear of people that aren't "proud" of those things.

    Last I checked pride comes from something one achieves rather than something someone is born with/as.

    It's worth recalling that that whole "man on the moon" endeavour, and other space missions, have gotten messed up (some more than others) because of different engineering teams using US Standard AND Metric units. Had they just used Metric like ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE, there'd be less hassle.

    Because everyone else has been so successful with going to the moon?

    I'm sure that those other 42 countries made it to the moon far sooner than the U.S. did. Oh wait.
