Guess what?! Freedom comes with risks! I don't make any decision until I weigh the pros and cons and do a bit of research, and yes, this includes any and all apps I may want to use.
Foreign wars will save us a ton of money, since these wars and occupations are undeclared, Dr Paul will have the power, and will bring the troops home day one. AND he has said since we're wasting money anyway, might as well give what we save to the people.
Bush went to war against Iraq, Obama got us out. Can you see the wee-bit of difference there? I can and I'm voting for Obama.
There was a set timeline on exiting Iraq, and yes he did keep to that timeline..... Somewhat. There are still many thousands of troops, and workers living inside of the Iraq embassy, whish is larger than the Vatican. If you're voting for Obama because of that, you better take a good look at Ron Paul. Since these wars are undeclared, and illegal, as president Ron Paul will IMMEDIATELY one day one, bring every foreign troop back home.
Which is why you should be a huge fan of Ron Paul. Most people here are too smart (or dumb) for their own good. They'll bitch and complain for hours how the government is too big, gets into our lives, spies on us etc.. Then they'll turn around and complain that people need health insurance, schooling, and everything else under the moon and it's up to the government to do that. Yes, in a perfect world everyone would be taken care of and live happy, but that just isn't the case and never will be.
Or add on to a friend or family members unlimited sprint account, that will cover your phone and net access at a modest price, then yes torrent, share netflix+hulu accounts, hell throw in 40 bucks once for an antenna, over the air DTV is very good. You could have unlimited consumption of stuff you'd actually like to watch for next to nothing.
Stick to doing the job the citizens are paying you to do, instead of this transparent attempt to bask in the adulation of Groklaw and Slashdot kidz.
His whole martyrdom and paranoia thing was pathetic. But but but, all the kidz tell me that Teh Micro$$$oft planted those stories so it must be true! I stepped down to protect the people of Mass.!
I realize that complete ignorance is a Slashdot hallmark, but the majority of you really need to educate yourselves on this matter.
The information given out by the other companies, and requested from Google, is completely divorced from any personally identifying data.
The only privacy issue in this whole thing is the privacy of Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and the other corproration asked for this data. Since Slashdot readers generally haven't minded the government sticking their noses into other companies' private business in the past, I doubt they'd be so up in arms if they really understood whose privacy was at stake here.
"The Democrats didn't roll that 'stuff' back?" Jesus H. Christ, you do realize that the Democrats were the ones who were carrying out the wiretapping of Martin Luther King, don't you?
Who has said anything about the War on Terror concerning Google? How does this affect your privacy?
Congratulations for buying into Soviet Union propaganda, I hear gulags in Siberia made excellent summer vacation resorts, too.
Well, only problem with your reminder is that you're wrong. The GameCube is in a distant third place WORLDWIDE. The only thing passing for suspense in the console sales wars this generation is whether or not the Cube will be able to pass the Xbox during the year or so when the Xbox isn't even being sold on the market anymore and the Revolution still isn't out. Not that it matters, but I'll bet that it won't.
People can say the GameCube did well all they want, but even the head of Nintendo says that the upcoming Revolution "would be a complete failure if we didn't sell more units than the Nintendo GameCube."
Exactly. Seeing as CmdrTaco was around when Slashdot's parent company went public, I'd assumed that he's seen a number of SEC filings before. I'm actually surprised to learn that he's a big enough idiot to think that the Risks section of a company's SEC filing is big news.
Just curious, but is there anybody who isn't a Mac user who actually supports what Apple's doing here?
To my libertarian eyes, it looks like Steve Jobs is commanding from on high that freedom of speech is a bad thing, and all his cult members are falling into line.
Ahh, Bill of Rights, who needs it anyway, can't wait 'til MacWorld!
Sorry, but the subscription model is here to stay, might wanna get your business news from somewhere besides The Register.
Hopefully Steve Jobs will "bless" the subscription model sooner rather than later, so that you Apple drones can join reality and stop whining about how you want other models to go away for the simple reason that they didn't come from Apple first.
LOL! Isn't that the same fundamental argument that has been buoying the entire Windows platform for a nigh on a couple decades now? Sorry, bub, but marketshare is important, and I truly apologize that you're so tweaked that Apple's iPod is so phenomenally popular.
People argue that it's better to listen to music on Windows because it has a higher marketshare? That's a new one. Still, I have to assume that you agree with it since you seem to be using it as the basis for your own argument that the iPod's marketshare affects one's listening experience.
Napster's model, whether implemented by Napster themselves or another company, will pressure Apple, there's no "if" about it. And then you drones can drool over the MacWorld videos of it when Steve Jobs announces that Apple will also offer a subscription plan. You'll think it's the best thing since sliced bread, but lots of us will remember how horrible you thought it was before it got the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field Seal of Approval.:)
I know a lot of families who give their kids $10 and $20 monthly allowances for the iTunes music store. Then tack on to that whatever the parents want to buy for themselves.
With Napster's plan, you can download a lot more than that allowance would get you. And especially when we're talking about kids, how many of them are going to care whether or not they technically "own" 95 percent of the garbage they bought 10 years down the road?
Good comeback. If you could refute anything I said in my post, I'm sure you would have. Remember who it was who told you that Apple would copy Napster's model, and tone down on the bitterness when you're exalting Apple's own subscription service.:)
That, and whether you want to use the hard-drive based music player with 92% market share.
Is that going to make the songs sound differently or something? Wow, what a horrible argument.
Anyway, the Apple sheep are welcome to their typical fits of denial about the appeal of Napster's model, right up until the minute that Apple decides that they better get their shit together and offer a similar model. At which point, the Apple sheep will pull a 180 and tell us what an awesome scheme it is.
Since Apple will offer a similar model eventually, you might want to start planning ahead so that you don't look like a complete hypocrite by praising it when it happens. Hope this helps.:)
Are people getting sued for posting flaws on Bugtraq or something? A malicious kid who released a worm is going to jail, who are these people being silenced?

Why even save? It's the responsible ones the fed hurts; interest rates should be upwards of 20% instead of the bullshit we have now.

Does this 5 step program over rule Goldblum's three step rule?
Step 1: Get infected
Step 2: Get your shit jacked
Step 3: There is no step 3

No, Bobby Kennedy is the one who authorized the wiretaps on Martin Luther King's phones.
And J. Edgar Hoover has nothing to do with neoconservatism. You really shouldn't use the term if you don't understand it.

They're not being asked for IP addresses or other personally identifying information, for fuck's sake. That's why I think your post is idiotic.
Why would you think they're requesting searches "indexed to specific IP addresses?"
Oh yeah, almost forgot I was at Slashdot, where 99.9% of the users are fucking morons. Congrats on fitting the demographic perfectly.

Who cares? Just go with a different subscription provider. They'll likely have 95% of the same music selection.
