How would a bootable disk with no Linux distributions and no binaries be the 'ultimate rescue disk'?

I meant to imply that it might boot into something useable, at least a stripped linux distro, an appropriate compiler, and access to the hard drives' file systems.

Granted, that would introduce platform dependence, but it would still be nice to have.

With a few well-publicized exceptions like the linux kernel, you'll still want to check the sites for new releases rather than pulling them straight off your (possibly outdated) DVD. Of course, it will help for hugeass files that you don't want to pull over a slow connection.

Too bad it's not bootable, or this would be the ultimate rescue disk.

Often, a static IP isn't enough. My cable modem service required an agreement not to run servers of pretty much any sort. In theory, if there's "Not much traffic", no one will care, but even so...

And don't forget that many DSL and cable modem services have slow upload rates, which limits the practicality of being a server.

Yes, CO2 is definately increasing. IIRC, it's at about twice the level it was when we first started measuring it. However, the fact that it is increasing is not proof that we caused such a great increase. CO2 occurs in nature in large amounts; most (all?) animals exhale CO2. CO2 is released by volcanic activity.

CO2 is also a pollutant from many human-made processes, so we would be stupid to discount the possibility that we are largely responsible. All I'm saying is to remember the distinction between proven fact and possibility.

However, there is something to be said for natural drugs instead of the synthetic "equivalent". Many people complain that (pills and tasty treats containing) lab-created caffeine irritates their stomach more than natural caffeine.
