"According to a letter received by ASCAP member Mike Rugnetta, 'Many forces including Creative Commons, Public Knowledge, Electronic Frontier Foundation and technology companies with deep pockets are mobilizing to promote "Copyleft" in order to undermine our "Copyright."
I love how they play the age old political view, it's maybe a bit surprising that communism is not mentioned in connection with the "Copyleft". Luckily time is running out for this to work as effectively, the McCarthyist-generations is hopefully moving towards better commie-hunting grounds.
He also believed, the guy on the other end when was saying that he's a journalist *and* a minister. Really, why not a *doctor* also, third one's charm, they say.
Well, there's places in US where beer might cost as much, it's not that expensive in everywhere in Finland for example. A sizable portion of that is taxes of course to cover the medical costs caused by alcoholism, since healthcare is essentially free. Same with taxing of gasoline (naturally not towards alcoholism), I think that 75% of the price is tax, currently at roughly 6.75 $ for a US gallon.
Off topic: A funny detail is, that Nordic countries have this unofficial (maybe even official) agreement that in acute medical cases, citizens of other Nordic countries are taken care of for free, basically with no questions asked. No need to show travel insurance or anything, applies to operations, x-rays etc.
So does this mean that G-forces in fighter planes would be something else? As I've understood the G in g-force stands for gravitational, but maneuvering F-16 should produce inertial forces?
A very good point. This is symptomatic in much of the "first world" at the moment. The lack of will and responsibility to make decisions impacting things in decades or even generations. The "quartal-economy" used to be a problem for companies and evident in their short term decision making, it has now become a mark of democracy also, where politicians are always considering the next election. This applies to all levels, even local and state politics are affected by this, many services provided by companies are up for a re-bid after the election and with usually a shift in the focus. The work done and experience gained previously get disregarded and projects are started from scratch.
and blood bank: inject their own previously extracted, concentrated red blood cells back into themselves before the run/ bike (with the subsequent increase in clot risk, of course)
of course, why can't climbers do this as well?
Actually people eat drugs to prevent and adapt better to HA-sickness. The most common is Acetazolamide (Diamox, Ã-demin where I live). It makes blood more acidic, google for more details.
It works great, I used once to climb 16000 feet in 2 days. The only problem is small side-effects, it changes your taste a lot. Most liquids taste odd or bland, except water. And it also causes odd sensations in your feet and arms, like there's been interruption in your circulation, tingling and loss of feel.
