this proves it, time and time again, that CHILDREN are running google
"hey, neat-o! lets do THIS. and THIS. annnnnnd THIS."
yeah, children who don't understand that because you can does not mean you should.
they are totally out of control and mgmt seems to not care. or, mgmt is also filled with twentysomthings who are too new to the world to really get what the implications are of their actions.
I wish some adults would be in charge of this IoT madness, for a change.
how do I know that my browser is not doing bad things behind my back? I have a browser open all the time, as do most. that, alone, makes this idea super stupid.
if I choose to run a BT app, I'll run one that I trust. and I'll end it when I'm done.
I have zero need for linking in vmlinux to a FUCKING BROWSER and making the fucking thing bootable. given time, the children at google will want to do that, too.
oh, and systemd needs to be mixed into this somehow. I feel it will be more complete if they do that (lol).
I won't accept a browser that should be SAFE, touching things it should not.
another example of the google children not thinking deeply about what they are doing. simply just doing because they CAN rather than because they SHOULD.
if google is behind it, chances are its invasive and not in your best interest, more often than not.
this will sound elitist (but I don't care) - anyone I can't reach via email or other non-single-company-is-an-internet methods is not worth staying in touch with. there is phone, email and real life ways. some people enjoy texting (I don't).
you are basically lazy, I suppose. you want everyone on one site. I don't. I see no value in that, to be honest. I see the lock-in and the privacy invasion and I stay in touch with REAL friends via email and in person.
fuck fecebook. you think you need it but you'd be surprised how much you can get along fine (better, I would argue) without it.
you don't think that, like the farm of foreign workers that work for pennies a day, that the bad guys in our government do not hire them for their human abilities?
I can easily imagine a distributed HUMAN system done in india, say, that harvests the power of people to do the evil work of the nsa, etc.
AI can do a lot. pattern matching in pure hardware (like DPI is in hardware these days) and occasional 'human assist' can get the job done.
I refuse to accept the BULLSHIT plea of 'too much data; you can just disappear in the noise'. pure bs. they would have solved this while they were designing the database to hold it all. they have more money (and power) than god himself. they can get anything like this done and we won't know a word about it until the next snowden leak.
indians have been working against the US's best interest for years, now. I know many who work in silicon valley for 'black hat' companies and they have no allegiance to the US and they could care less about our lifestyle or freedom. they get paid, they get a lifestyle bump over what they had in india and they all buy the BS that they are 'helping' secure the US or the world, when in fact, its exactly the opposite. they mostly don't even know the real ID of who they are working for; they are given 'fake' jobs and have no idea what their real long goal is. even first line managers don't know.
sounds like james bond movie, but truth is stranger than fiction.
'lack of manpower' does not apply anymore. there are hoards of working humans that will do what they are told for chicken feed.
don't believe you can get lost in the noise. not in today's 'hire a human for pennies' world.
speaking of music, I have a hard drive based music player in my car and its been in the car since about 2003. it had whatever was the best IDE (not sata, too early for sata) notebook drive of its time. I put as much mp3 fileage on that as would fit.
in all these years of hot and cold (bay area, but still we get some hot days when the car is left out in the sun) and vibration from daily driving, I have yet to replace that drive! it could have been a samsung or ibm or maybe hitachi. funny enough, none of those really make drives anymore, do they?
I keep expecting this old ide notebook drive to fail but it keeps on running. in the trunk of my car right over a wheel well storage area, so it gets more than its share of rough road bumps.
win10 should have some way to pay the extortion fee so that you can be spared win10.
"nice win7 you got there; pity if it were to be, uhhh, 'upgraded'. we wouldn't want that, would we? now how's about you write that check out to Tony, Inc. and we leave your computer and kneecaps alone?"
its ALL about advertising for those who have BOOK DEALS and who do speaking arrangements for fees.
every damned 'article' is a teaser for a book by that poster.
clickbaity as can be, too. knowingly bullshit just to get comment.
hey, web2.0 is great, isn't it? such a great use of machines, bandwidth and our time.
(sheesh)
btw, have you seen the UI for 'messaging' in linked in? a few months ago they redid it and its now nearly unusable. great job, morans. you broke the main thing about LI that made it useful (being able to talk to hiring managers and recruiters without having to go thru email, first. its now slow and laggy and there is lots of slowness when you type; gee wonder what DATA MINING they are doing as I am typing. dammit. jumped the shark, they did.)
too much BS. I hope you don't believe that. we don't (and I'm sure I speak for a lot more than myself).
what do you mean "IF he lied". he's a published known on-the-fucking-books liar. time and time again. he has more holes in his stories than swiss cheese. (this guy is quoting comey to me. wow. and he thinks that's a defense of some sort. double wow.)
I see no reason to trust apple on their word. and what they SAY - who cares. at the end of the say, they con us, many of us believe them, they have whatever agreements with full 'we will make your life a living hell' NDA they all signed (not literally, I hope) and no one is allowed to know. they make more money than god and their story is working for them. god bless them, I guess! but I don't believe one word of anything any of those guys say. I have no reason to believe that HONESTLY is in anyone's vocabulary - who is at that level, at least. simply not something they even care to practice. they say things to get things done and to get what they want. this is the personality that we put in charge, all the fucking time! don't you understand?
believe what you want, but too much is at stake to just trust talking heads who make billions of dollars on their story. life has many levels and black/white thinking is not helpful in most cases.
if we had ralph nader types working for us, it would be a law that any series of skipped or delayed security patches (some threshold in a row) would mandate that you unlock bootloaders and let people do the patching themselves.
man, I wish we had people working FOR THE PEOPLE as our government. the fact that they sold all of us out and stopped caring, that's going to be part of our total demise as a nation. not the main part, but a huge part.
there were short periods in time (sorry to say, usually under D control) where our congress and senate worked to make things better for regular people. I can't remember the last time this happened, though.
too bad our lawmakers have no balls to stand up to the power of money and bribes and 'election campain money'.
give the editors a break. they had to type this summary with only 1 hand!
MS is just doing what it thinks is the, uhm, needful.
let me ask you: could jesus microwave a burrito so hot that even he couldn't eat it?
I could use some good news, now, jim. lay it on me, bro!
At this stage all reports indicate that the ABS cocked things up big time.
so, the anti-lock(out) feature didn't work correctly, then?

I can choose NOT to run a closed-source app.

to fix that, just run your 45's at 33.
(GOML)
Rumor is they'll stop using all email and switch to smoke signals.
How?
shot? in the UK?
I've heard that just can't happen....
I called, but some jenny chick hung up on me after cursing me out.
"your mouse has moved; stand by while we locate the latest signed driver.

no driver found. mouse uninstalled. click OK to continue."
lol

transmission on linux works well.
yeah, well, you name your kid 'cortana' and stuff like that is expected, isn't it?
does that mean 'windows 7 sleeps with the fishes?'
in a republican controlled world view, I wonder which bathrooms Bob and Clippy would be told to use?
it should die. just end. it has its long run, it faded from what it was supposed to be about and now its a facade, at best.
just end it. boycott it, interfere with them, cause them annoyance. they need to learn they don't own concepts so wide as they claim.
but please, just end this. risking world health so more advertising can be sold? just nuke us all from orbit, if we can't seem to end this absurdity.

It's already led to one death, and can easily lead to many more.
aka, "rich people problems". or rather, "stupid people who are rich, problems."

we surely deserve better than this.
