As much as I detest Windows in all forms, Windows 7 seems to be shaping up to be a half decent OS. Hate to have to admit it, but there it is.
Now all they need is a bash terminal, wget, vim, locate, grep, tail, touch, top, a package management system (emerge, apt, rpm - not really fussy), more text-based config files instead of a registry...
It's only spelt ueber cos keyboards aimed at the English speaking markets don't have umlauts! (ie. the two dots that would normally be above the u to give it a 'ue' sound.)
Such a massive change in temperature is going to cause hellish weather fluctuations and winds across the whole planet no matter which part of the planet you are on.
It would not be terrorism unless he used it deliberately to terrorize a group of people.
I don't think that definition is really valid anymore as far as Western governments are concerned. ASIO in Australia labelled a woman as a potential terrorist for describing the success of a primary school play as "going off like a bomb" on her mobile phone. Arabs get stopped at airports, ummm, for looking like, well, arabs. etc etc etc...
Hmmm. Public performance is when people have been invited to be entertained. Playing music loud enough for people to hear is just refusing to exclude them from enjoyment of the downloaded music...
The biggest failure of Windows 7 is that Microsoft is still pursuing their inherently faulty security model based on the main user of the PC running as root.
No wonder it needs so much protection - any malicious code that runs has free reign over the whole system. Vista and Windows 7 have only implemented the much loved security prompts to try and make it 'safer'. Only 1% of users probably understand them anyway...
Linux users aren't out of the running completely. Silverlight runs on Wine. No idea if it runs on IE6 or if you have to use IEs4Linux to get IE7 on there.
Microsoft could just counter this by adding an option in the installation. IE or no IE? As most people aren't really interested in an OS without a browser straight up, the IE yes option is almost a dead cert. in most cases. If the court decision went as far as to push Microsoft to offer the option of automatic installation of other browsers... Then it would be a useful ruling.
The other thing that might miff Windows users - and probably the base reason for Opera's claim - is that Microsoft websites like hotmail are designed to only work properly in IE. Even the download button for Windows 7 (yes, their security model is still inherently flawed in Windows 7) didn't work in Firefox, but worked in IE6 (Thank-you IEs4Linux). On top of that, many web-designers design websites for IE only - or even more stupid, one version of IE only.

Isn't that normal for the news articles?

That's the biggest BBQ I've ever heard of!
I've been using Thunderbird for a few years to download my gmail. What's the great news here?
Move along. Nothing to see here
A beach front property!
Now if these climate scientists can get it together and tell us where the ocean levels will be in 20yrs, I'm buying up big now while it's still cheap.
Reggae Roxanne was hilarious...
I seriously didn't think that youtube could get get any worse...
How wrong I was.

Computers are more useful after the class. In each lesson give students three lists to write down in each history/geography/whatever lesson.
The students who don't want to learn won't bother, but the students who do want to learn will be encouraged to gain research and self-learning skills.
How any school based time on the computers to do this self-learning and research is arranged is up to the institution.
No, but it will be possible to get the twists even tighter...
Very good point. The variety in different distros and user chosen software would give Linux a great advantage over Windows securitywise.
I do have 20/20 vision (or I did before I started welding, so maybe not) and I have trouble with captchas sometimes.
I think that we maybe have a stronger case for gravity than for evolution...
I don't have enough energy to rig a sail...
If they were Nerd babies they would be labelled ^C and ^V...

After playing with Windows 7 a bit I can say one thing. It beats the pants off Vista.
Beta or no beta.

To take to one's self in exclusion of others; to claim or use as by an exclusive right; as, let no man appropriate the use of a common benefit.
Hmmm. Exclusion of others. That means it's not theft if we play it loud enough for the neighbors to hear?

So what actually makes this news? Microsoft's security model is faulty by design. What's new?
