  5. bad questions on Is SAIR Certification Worthwhile? · · Score: 2
I took the practice tests and got an overall average of 80% but there were a few questions that I didn't agree with. Most are on the security and ethics test.

Is it ever ethical for a Network Administrator to read other users' E-mail on a server that he is administrating without approval.
Explanation: The Electronic Communications Privacy Act specifically grants this right to authorized personnel. Courts have generally ruled that there is no reasonable expectation to privacy and, further, states that employers have the right to read e-mail to protect their interests.
While I see that it is legal, I still don't consider it "ethical"

2 :Of the following examples, which would be the most representative of physical security?
    1. Computer Locks
    2. BIOS Security
    3. Boot Loader Security (example - LILO)
    4. xlock and vlock
Explanation : Physical security of a machine is the protection of unauthorized persons from logging into the physical terminal. All four examples help in preventing unauthorized persons from logging into the machine.
I think the first one is "most" representative answer as the others are all implemented in software.

9 :Which of the following is the most secure method for a System Administrator to login as root into a host. (This host may be accessed through the local area network if necessary)
    A.rlogin
    B.ssh
    C.telnet
D.Login as root at the physical terminal
E.All of the above are equally suitable options
Explanation : Answer D is correct. Using rlogin, ssh, and telnet place the root password on the network, subjecting it to potential snooping. Further rlogin relies on the "trust" of another host and can be easily fooled. Telnet and Secure shell are probably the next best choices because they are capable of using encryption to protect the data but is still unsafe because it is always feasible that someone is capable of decrypting the message. Physically logging onto the terminal prevents network snooping of the root password.
I chose SSH. I realize that logging on to the physical console is the most secure but why does the question say you can log in over the network if necessary? And unless I'm graveley mistaken ssh does not put the root password in plaintext on the network. I'm sure it doesn't when using public key authentication...

Sorry, those just caught me as unfair questions...

Lemme take up some bandwith and espouse my views on the casting and character development

Paul - I liked the actor, but I didn't like the character as much as in lynches dune. Paul in the miniseries changes too much to really get to know him. In the movie paul doesn't really change his views that much, he's on a mystical trip the whole time, which makes him easier to uhh "know." Not that he was transparent, but his character was consistently mysterious.

Chani - I liked this Chani alot better that Lynches. In the movie Chani looked like the american girl next door. Boring! In the series she looks much more aboriginal, with a wide face and straight black hair. And that accent is so sexy! The character devopment added a lot.

The Harkonnen - Done well. Less evil than the movie, they seemed more realistic. I loved the Samauri suits, they just looked well cool! Feyd was better here too. He seemed scarier than Sting was.

Jessica - Good choice to play the part, but I agree with the earlier poster who said she seemed to motherly and not enough like a powerful witch.

I didn't like how the fremen/paul didn't wear stillsuits all the time. And they only wore their facemasks part of the time they had the suits on. I mean they are wasting water! I think the audience could have identified the characters with facemasks on, Stillgar has a tatoo on his head for just such a purpose. The final battle wasn't as good as I had hoped, the fighting just didn't seem too satisfying and I got tired of the explosions sending samauri sprawling.

But overall I liked the series, It was very pleasing to the eye. And didn't mangle the story too much, I'll buy the DVD when I can get it.

Don't most comic book villians think they are basically the good guys, they just have a twisted sense of right and wrong!?
Especially Batman, it seems, (now I watched the cartoon more than read the comics but the universe is the same) is always facing villians that have been wronged in some way where you actually feel some sympathy for them. What makes a villian different from a hero in a traditional comic is that the good guy has a ROCK-SOLID sense of right and wrong, and has to look past his emotions to do what's right. Batman feels sorry for the villian, but still sends them to jail, making them more bitter and more of a villian once they break out.

As for the wife being the villian of the story, the movie never hinted anything in that direction. And this movie explains it's hints. I just can't see the homely wife who just wants to love her husband becoming the bad guy instead of the eccentric rich person in a wheelchair who dresses in purple and black.

I didn't like this movie, It moved way to slow (I'm not opposed to slow movies, I love 2001) and the camera angles were a bit over the top and pretentious. The scene where David Dunn discovers his superhuman strength is a good example. THis movie had great potential, but continually frustrated the viewer up until the ending. The ending was a cool turn in the plot, but man what a dissapointment. Earlier someone tells Dunn about what an arch villian does as opposed to a street-villian, he fights with his mind. TO bad we never got to see that happening.

I did like the david dunn character, and Elijah was an awesome character to. I like Dunn's "costume" of just a green poncho, THAT was cool. But all in all, this movie went nowhere...

The automatic recount was done because florida law says it has to be done in such a close race. The second and manual recount was done because florida law allows a canidate to request such a count. And it's always a good idea to take a hands-off approach when dealing with something like the environment where it is damn near impossible to know all the variables.

That said, I still think this is a MUCH better system than burning fossil fuels for energy. Utilizing wave energy will give us as much clean power as we need for as long as the sun shines, and the moon orbits the earth. And I don't think that a .01% (if we ever even approach that high of a utilization) power drain on the ocean will have a very big effect.
