If you spread that 5% over the millions of binaries that are created with a compiler the difference is signficant. Selecting the right algorithim only effects that one program.
Interesting comment. I almost always see junior programmers assigned with refactoring tasks, while refactoring really takes somebody with experience and skill.
you can't imagine 50% of the people buying this in compusa returning it because it wont install on their machine? not only is this expensive, it is embarrassing for MS. the stores will get it when they are ready for it.
I hate to agree with him, but if all of the free software developers had used 'convienient' tools instead of creating them, linux would never be where it is today.
Methinks that mathmatics is a fertile ground for boondogglers who are willing to do *anything* to get a story submitted on/. I think that if the editors can't figure out WTF the article is about they shouldn't post it.
In an interview with the Associated Press agency recently, Dr Moore said: "Electronics was one of the trade magazines that you read and throw away. It wasn't an archival journal."
they could use a formula where the number of given competitors for a given keyword are taken into account. You would ramp up the cost for a given keyword (1st come users not effected) depending on the number of advertisers.
you hit the nail on the head. I have to do file system searches maybe every other week. And why the heck arent you going to organize your files anyway? Is somebody going to come up with an app that randomly spreads the files across your directories?
I dont necessarly think that a tech mail order business is in the same domain as an operating system revision name. i guess a judge will decide this.
because the quote about 'used in nuclear reactor cooling' has about as much applicability to your cpu as if you were talking about water cooling.
the nuclear reactor quote is pointless.
it is probably a gallium alloy, they melt at just a little above body temperature
They use liquid sodium metal in nuclear reactors. you do NOT want this in your computer.
to answer your question, most electric power is generated by coal
//The government probably should have instituted a minimum performance test when they instituted the 1.6gpf requirement.//
maybe i could sell them some stool samples

You have it backwards. IQ tests mean less at the far ends of the scale.
Richard Feynman has an IQ of 125.
they already are breaking new ground here.... this has to be the worst dupe EVER

I would agree with you, except that microsoft has perverted it into something else, with things like IE integrated in the OS.
let me know when you put your FUV lithography system together
not necessarily. you might know how to make a complex microprocessor, but without the capital and equipment it is impossible.
In this case, all you need is access to a computer.

just a small detail... does uranium hexaflouride have enough uranium per cross section to go supercritical? even more so with the gas.....

Why on slashdot?
I dont have a clue what the proof is about, and it doesn't mention if he is going to use a computer to help with the proof.

This is a paper launch.. Nobody is going to buy this white elephant so Intel doesn't have to supply them.
the term 'half-life' is perfectly acceptable for chemical decomposition. do a google search if you will.

What is that 300 year figure from? Wouldn't the use of 'half-life' be more appropriate?
Wouldn't SPC (statistical process control) be a good candidate for stopping this?
