Funny, when I worked at the now defunct DCG Computers/Atipa, Microsoft had purchased some linux boxes from us. This was back in the day of RH 5/6, but maybe they were even getting worried then.
As one of the previous responders mentioned, take every report that they publish from this lab with a grain of salt. They'll do as they've done before, tweak their system and make linux look like the dog.
Let some of the the Linux admins from Slashdot show them how it is done and see who comes out the winner!
HP should sell the architecture. I used to build machines from these when I worked for DCG. They were fast and solid and worth keeping around. Hell, AMD or Intel would be smart to pick Alpha up and integrate it into their chips. Maybe they could get their chips into the public's hands a little faster. It's not an architecture that should die and have to be resurrected in 10 years like all those other machines we are trying to bring back.
I know of a court house in St. Johnsbury VT. If you go inside, there is a piece of black electrical tape that marks the US and Candian borders. Many years ago, a trial was held between the US government and a foreign person (wording escapes me). The condition was that the person would be unable to enter the US for the trial, yet they had to hold the trial. Well, the trial was held in this Library with the foreign person on the Canadian side and the US Government on the US side. Why not have them tried there. Seems to fit the bill to me.
1. I, myself, am a computer Junky. I eat, sleep and work computers. What do you do in your off time? Are you thinking about how to make an effect better or are you actually off the clock?
2. Is there some thing out there, be it movie or one action seen that you would like to see done entirely through CG?
Sounds like the movie 12 Monkeys to me. It does sound interesting though. Now I have to call and see how much Showtime is going to add to my Cable Bill!
Forget the Cue:Cat, I say we start writing drivers for those scanners at the local grocery store! Aren't they the same thing? Now did Cue:Cat reverse engineer them to get the Wand?
Plus with the grocery store ones, you get to hear that cute little beep! I feel jip'd.

Would that be "b" or "a". Forheavens sake, if someone picked up the cordless phone in the office, it could get ugly.

1 of the top 2. First time. Troll me if you need to.

Do you remember the old 80's(?) Disney movie "Flight of the Navigator"? Wouldn't this ship be a good example of what they are trying to do?
