Dude, this is the worst Wikipedia I've seen in my life.
15 years != 3 decades, can perhaps feel like that if you are getting old but... no. You are assuming that all "whatever" progress has been kinda linear before 1995.
Business definitely does not move at the speed of information. It's way slower than that.
Information also does not move at the speed of thought.
And it's always really stupid to start adjusting time-scales just because it takes more than 15 years to get your website done...
Google through YouTube has created something very valued
You must be new to Dot Com 2.0?
According to Mayan astrology, the data-mining bubble will burst in 2012, resulting in expanded contentiousness regarding privacy issues. That will result in a collapse of the Web 2.0 and Social Media. The majority of all people has at this point lost all their IRL social skills and their ability to interpret exformation in regular IRL social situations == Zombie Apocalypse
At least if you check out the source of this page you will find something like this:
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-32013-5");
3pageTracker._setDomainName("slashdot.org");
4pageTracker._initData();
This looks pretty, pretty, pretty much like Google Analytics to me... The rest is hidden somewhere deeper IIRC.

Slashdot has been using Google Analytics for years...
I started using it myself after coming to this realisation.
My ISP-business has a now a dedicated Beowulf Cluster of virtual servers running optimized Google Analytics Javascripts monitoring the living shit out of all our clients. We will shortly expand our services with installation of the NoScript-plugin to Firefox...
Please keep in mind when reading articles like this that biofuel does not automatically mean that the fuel is any more ecological than regular fossile fuels.
The bio-prefix comes from greek meaning "life", and used with the word "fuel" it can be almost any non-ecologic stuff...
Here the government required cable companies to quit sending analog, half year after the terrestrial broadcasts. There was an extended time for cable tv because - as you say - it was an issue for apartment complexes.
First thing that came on the market just after the digital tv switch was pay-tv for antenna-people who hadn't been able to buy new channels before...
Ok, well I have a box that says DVB-T for air broadcasts and DVB-C for cable. Without a box I don't see a shit. Have Obama plans on keeping the cable analogue broadcasts forever there?
Here in Finland the switch was made in Sep. 2007 for terrestrial broadcasting and cable television Feb. 2008.
The rest of the EU member states are expected to stop analogue television transmissions by 2012.
Wasn't such a big deal... many people actually are still refusing to buy the convertor box after being able to notice a dramatic improvement in their quality of life.

I bet there were dirty stories and FTP servers housing content before the Web was even a fully-realized thought. Long before.
Perhaps not FTP servers, but BBS systems (dial-up, like 2400-14400bps) were a major source of adult entertainment before "the Web".
"Long before", yeah ok, I would say "Just before" but that's relative.

Right, I see, it's not about cable tv yet.
