    any LUG meeting should be free. Mostly because this is one of the corner stones in the "movement".

    The people who normally go to LUGs probably would not mind paying for better facilities, but most new and potential members, or people who are curious, will not since they have little or no idea of what excalty is going on at a meeting. Of cause the price have something to say as well.

    Well get this lack of fixing.

    - Take a unknown site with almost no traffic, with links from /. and a friend.
    - Put nothing of interrest on it, only update it once a year.
    - For annoyance, make it all text and simple to use (sp?).
    - Give the domain a name which makes sence to you.

    This is what I did, apparently the domain name I selected was a name for a printer model, if people only do a search for the model (on Google), they get my site as the first choise.

    The point of all this? When doing a search choose your search carefully, and use at least two words when possible.

    I think your are confusing floppies with TSD (Table Storage Device).

    Have a look here for executive models. Which can be identified by the fluid supply for the TSD handlers, wine in this case.
    The models show are of a never date than 1969, observed by their significant smaller size and weight.

    "What's New?" contains material from Dragon Magazine, Duelist and other sources. Probably why it is not avaible at TSR, besides Phil often do his own publishing.

    This shows how little the author knows about the subject, the rest af the article looks like rewrite and tidbits from other articles.

    On the other hand, did he mean that Moore's Law increases the performance of the chips? Then one is left wondering what research and engineers are for... ;9

    I am not sure why GSM so quickly replaced NMT

    NMT only allow one communication per channel, where GSM fits 8 communications per channel.

    Secondly GSM is digital, which offer more and diffently services other than voice, including encryption.

    It sounds like a urban legend to me.
    To give the story some credibility it should have stated where he was found.
    This fact could be compared with known base stations, and verified the claim or if it was possible.

    On a side note, the ad on the page was for prepaid phone cards!

    When will mainstream moviemakers, such as Lucasfilm, finally replace their render farms and Renderman with a GPU (Geforce or Radeon) and Cg based renderer?

    That will never happen. You are comparing oranges and apples.

    GPUs are emulators.
    In the sense that they try generate realistic looking images. Take reflection and refractions, these are based on bump maps or similiar technics, which limits the effect to a few passes.

    Renderman (and raytracing) are simulators.
    They are based on simulations of real world physics, that means the refraction and reflections are calculated, the simulation is only limited by how detailed the image has to be when done.

    Fans like to follow the lives of their favourite actors, not just watch them in movies. A computer character won't have a 'real life'.

    It is much worse than you can imagine, there are indeed "real life persons" of computer characters, case in point Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.

    Dispite the probability, I think a more interresting question would be if they are able to recieve signals from us, since all signals and transmitions degrade in power over distance.

    And if the are within this distance do they have the technology to detect the signals.

    I think there is more to this story.

    Turkey is caught between EU and the middel East.

    EU have been dragging their feets to give Turkey membership, for various reasons (which is a study in itself).

    Therefore the Turkish goverment have to make some gestures towards the middel East, in case they are never admitted into EU, otherwise the have no hope to appeal to the middel East either.
