I think it will be a big factor to think about when thinkin about using canvas in some web app. Because noone will want to use it if only a handful of browsers can support it.
There seems to be very much bragging on both sides - "You could have used optimizer x, written better code, etc".
It seems that to get accurate results which language is actually faster, we should start a contest where programmers can defend their favourite language as much as they want, and do all the optimizing they can possibly squeeze out of the language.
There could be just some different problems to solve or things to do with the program, and the thing should be done exactly the way as described by the contest starter.
After a while, when all the contestants have submitted their code, and it has been tested by the contest jury, we would have a quite clear winner, at least for the few problems presented in the contest?
So, all we need now is someone willing to get some reputation from arranging a contest like that. =)
I built it myself in a Small Form Factor PC (Shuttle, if you must know), put a lot of harddisk on it, an IR module and Linux of course.
It works like a dream.. MythTV crashes sometimes.. but there's nothing a good reboot and some patches can't fix. I can use the Web-interface, the remote feature (MythTV is based on a client-server architecture, so you can use it remotely with any PC connected to the same LAN)
The picture quality is absolutely stunning. It's like watching DVD:s on my TV. Also, I absolutely like the convinience of not having to be there recording the shows when they come out.. it's all so beautifully automatic. We have no PVR-systems for sale here in Finland, so you pretty much have to build one yourself if you want one. No TiVo for us.
If I had to pick my favourite OSS-project, it would definetly be MythTV. Still under a lot of development, but very usable.
If you want to ask about my system, please send me some mail [ tstm at ionstream dot fi ]. I'd be glad to share. =)
Anyone know of other online stores that feature this? CD Baby's got a good start, but I'm really not keen on the million albums that require RealPlayer for me to listen to them.
I surfed around the website a bit and it seems almost every one of the songs has a 'hi-res' mp3-version online, too. No realplayer needed.
is exactly the Lindows MobilePC. It's a sub 3-pound laptop with loads of battery life. It has all the features you need after a small investment in a pcmcia WLAN-card. The notebook costs only $799, which is quite a bargain.
You can dump lindows, as it doesent serve any purpose and install something useful. =)
You can get digital phones in all brands - 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz, so the microwave-point (which, is also not valid because of the _very_ low power emitted) and the longer signal are not valid.
The soundquality is also overall better in a digital network.
And besides, if you want to do something geeky, you'll definetly need a digital signal to transmit data. =P
But Gentoo is finally bringing to linux what FreeBSD has had for who knows how long now. It has building from source and a good standard for keeping all the configuration files in the same place.
I like linux because of it's hardware support. There is always some hack available to get my newest toaster work on it. Besides, gentoo works faster than *BSD in almost every task you can throw it.
Even Robbins, the developer of Gentoo has migrated from BSD back to linux, just bringing the good things with him.
Now they will monitor your stomach. They already monitor your movement by cell phone. They have every possible fact that there is to know about you. (what you buy, wear, like, etc)
Will there be a support for canvas in IE7?

You should market that to somebody as an energy cleaner with a tagline something along:
"Is your nearby coal plant polluting the environment? Do you want to use clean energy? We've got a solution for you!"
I bet most of the anti-nuclear people will buy one, since they have absolutely no clue where the pollution actuallu comes from. Profit!
I've seen my share of bad movies.. but many of the worst movies are actually so poor that they are already funny.. but there's an exception!
Jason X. No need to explain. It's the TENTH sequel to the Friday the 13th series and its utter crap from the beginning to the end.

A very good collection of links and information conserning VMS can be found here
The site is very insightful.. and I think it can be read through in a couple of hours. =)
