This is _GREAT_ news. Not only is there a chance that everyone will soon have high-speed access, but there's also a possibility of a fixed IP address for everyone. I can't help but wonder who'll be first to get stuck with 029A:7734:029A:7734...
There's a problem in that statement. Should the Chinese gov't discover someone sending a message encrypted *at all*, before even thinking of decrypting said message, an arrest is made. From what I remember, encryption without specific license is illegal.
woohoo!!! now I can go for.sux,.r00lz,.blows,.goats [there could be a LOT of fun with that one], and.lives. Seriously, though, this could get out of hand quickly despite that we're supposedly "running out of domain names" under the conventional system.
As far as the "lights turning on and off" trick from remote control, a Ed Winn (host of a widely-spread variety show in the 50s had the best solution I've seen to date...it couldn't turn lights on, but sure could turn them off from any distance. What is this miraculous invention? A bigass rock. Don't want to get up from bed to turn the light off? Throw a bigass rock at the bulb and your problem is solved.
Here's a wild one for you: remove the extension from an executable or change the extension to anything your heart desires...send an e-mail with instructions of "save the file to c:\windows\temp, then go to start | run | type in "start c:\windows\temp\badprogram.fli" to view". This will execute the program the same as if it had a.exe extension. There's more than one way to skin a cat (:
Actually, the *.scr extension is only logical...if you take a look at any "virus" site, you'll notice many of the trojans are screen savers. The reason for this? *.scr is just as executable as *.exe. Screen savers are only programs, just like under Xscreensaver. I've seen quite a few that place an entry in system.ini as: RUN=trojan.scr
Maybe so, but around here there's only cows. I ain't goin' there lol Anyways, I've always admired the korn shell. I'm just glad to see that this has finally happened.
w00h000000000000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jumping up and down* Oh my GOD!!!!!! w00h0000000000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *throwing stuff in celebration* errr...I mean... This is great! I'm glad to see this step being taken for such a fine shell.
Actually to make a differentiation on this... DeCSS, if you look at it in its distributed binary format, is NOT in effect a "program" which even allows viewing of DVDs. Its compiliation under Windows does not render object file for user execution, rather it renders DLL files. Yes, that's right. Library files. Though they can be used in Windows, let's see them "double-click" and execute them without aid from an external program. But,I digress.

I haven't listened to Metallicrap since "Master of Puppets", so I have no mp3s
of them.
Salute on the server! God knows that free publication in the modern world is
starting to get scarce...
...OR, try to take over the world...
"What're we gonna do tonight, Brain?"
"Same thing we do every night, Pinkie! Try to take over the world!"

Oh, wait. You said "maturation". Never mind.

The whole damn thing is [AFAIK] available on the COTSE website. I saw it there the one time I browsed through it; entirely HTML, tho...no plain text
