You are an absolute moron. I'm sorry I can't sugar coat that for you.

Do us a favor and keep your mouth shut and your keyboard silent.

I hate to piggy back on such great ideas, but it's what people need to hear.

After stewing over this problem, I realized that to solve the music industry's woes is a fool's errand. We all know (one of those universal truths) that music is not a scarce commodity. When something can be copied at a cost of ***0*** dollars per copy and distributed for next to nothing (Itunes), or even precisely nothing (via P2P), it makes perfect sense that the price should be...wait for it...nothing.

I don't hate musicians. I think they're a necessary part of our culture and I really wish there were more of them performing *in person* so I could pay them back for their contributions.

If I were a musician, I'd already be cleaning up because I'd be selling my albums on my website according to the allofmp3 pricing model (pay for the bandwidth and a little extra to cover expenses) and performing live every week wherever I lived. Oh, and I wouldn't have signed any deals with any devils. If you did, then it's a shame, but you've got to figure out how to dump those devils and start playing music.

Instead of you merely spouting BS yourself while proclaiming the linked article to be BS, why don't you do us a favor and identify a few of the real reasons why you think Excel is better than Calc.

Here goes with a simple example from my background. I used to work at a company that used Excel extensively for numerical analysis. The problem wasn't with Calc in that case though, the problem was with the dude who'd learned how to do everything in VBA and would *not* be persuaded to try anything useful. He sucked as a programmer, but was a *very* bright guy when it came to EE, numerical analysis, FFT type stuff and so on. His problem was that he simply wanted to get the job done and he'd always gotten the job done with Excel and VBA.

When I produced a working demonstration of several of his slick spreadsheets that I prototyped using (gasp) *javascript* he was uncomfortable to put it mildly.

I bet that if your countries economy was withering and dying like the author's is, then you'd be ready to bandy about some harsh language too.

Come to think of it, a lot of people can be described that way. Let's just keep on rolling with the status quo and keep getting robbed blind and raped by the politicians. We won't speak up though; not until the shits already gone through the fan blades and sprayed all over our faces.

that's precisely the problem. We can see examples of this already with women getting pregnant with > 1 or 2 kids because a fertility doctor ignored ethical standards and implanted way more embryos than he/she should have. I don't think that us messing with the processes involved in the propagation of our species ends well.

god damn it. You'd think that you would know this by now, but shockingly, I still see this stupid word being bandied about by morons (like you). Look, I'm tired of people using a word like "pirate" to describe what amounts to copying a movie (whether owned, borrowed, or otherwise) for personal viewing. I've got news for you jacko, that's not fucking *pirating* any fucking thing, so stop saying it is. I really dislike being the nasty jerk saying nasty things like this on a site like this, but come on, you and people like you need to wake up.

The real problem is the ACH system? It relies almost exclusively on blind trust. Trusting that whomever I'm debiting authorized me to debit them, etc. It always amazes me when I build an ACH file to send to the bank as part of my business and send it through without a hint of a question from the bank or the processor. They just merrily send the file on through. I guess the bank and processor are counting on me being a good citizen. Hmmm...
