..where they admit they don't know why the system works..
I know you're all being funny in this thread of comments, but I'm not amused at that remark at all, it's a little scary to be honest. If we do start living in a work where AI's are creating things that we don't understand, but use anyway, then everyone should be concerned.
*sigh* FINE, just tell them (if this rediculous bullshit even comes up) that you don't want their shitty privacy-violating plates. Fuck the police, whatever, I fucking give up. I just hope I don't live long enough to have to deal with bullshit as rediculous as this.
It's an illusion held by the paranoid or genuinely guilty.
Tell you what, asshole: How about you let me install video cameras and microphones, accessible by everyone on the internet, all over the inside of your house, including your bedroom and bathroom. Then we can all watch you have sex with your wife/girlfriend/self, watch you take a dump, and everything else you do, and you can face criticism for anything you do that upsets or offends some complete stranger (but that in a sane world where there IS privacy, would be no one's business but your own). You still OK with no privacy? THIS IS THE WORLD WE ARE ALL HEADED TOWARDS IF DIPSHITS LIKE YOU DON'T GET A CLUE AND HELP PUT A STOP TO IT, RIGHT NOW!
Let me tell you one more thing: You know who else doesn't enjoy privacy? Here's the short list:
Mod parent up. This is the slippery slopes of slippery slopes. Anyone believing such technology wouldn't be abused to further agendas is sadly naive. Aside from shades of Minority Report and Brave New World, there would be heavy overtones of Gattaca as well; you wouldn't just have kids being pushed into various professions, you'd have kids denied access to education, social strata, and entire professional fields because of their "latent tendencies". This would create many more problems than it would ever solve, and it would create an entire underclass of disenfranchised-by-design people. People who (assuming accuracy of the test) have a natura tendency towards violence. People you're intentionally pissing off by treating as something less than human. What could possibly go wrong here, folks? Also factor in that they'd end up breeding with each other, because the "non-violent" people wouldn't want to associate with them. Now we also have a population of 2nd-class citizens who regularly increase their numbers, passing down resentment towards a government and society that keeps them down. Can you say "civil war"?
I hope they find no way to physiologically predict who is potentially violent because NOTHING good will come of it.
..then there's no hope for you, none at all. You're paying for the "service", and then you're (potentially) also paying (via your taxes) to get snooped on by the goddamn NSA/CIA/FBI/whoever. How much more of this shit is everyone going to stand for?
"If more science graduates are desired, the findings suggest the importance of policies at younger ages that lead students to enter college better prepared (PDF) to study science."
In other words, this is the price everyone is now paying for public schools sucking so much ass: A generation full of kids who will end up working at McDonalds or something equally meaningless, because they weren't given a decent foundation in grade school and high school.
It's real nice of you to do something like this, but I have a suggestion for something you should be doing instead: End the god-damned motherfucking sequestration, you ignorant baboons!!!
Sincerely, TAXPAYERS WHO ARE GETTING SCREWED BECAUSE YOU SUCK SO MUCH ASS
What if I think it's right and just to build the best society that's realistically possible?
Because, like so many people down through the millennia, you're forgetting one immutable truth: The best way to ruin a good thing is to get a large group of PEOPLE involved in it. When you have ~300,000,000 people in a country, who gets to decide what is the "best society"? You? What gives you the right to decide that for anyone other than yourself? You want an idylic world? Magically get rid of 90% of the people in it currently, and I guarantee things will calm right down. Since near-genocide isn't an option, I suggest you stop dreaming vague, impossible dreams, and learn to work with and fix the system we have in place already, it's not entirely too late to do that.
Narcism, hubris, decadence, greed, violence, corruption. That's what "The Left" has been pushing for.
And the "right" just wants what's fair for everyone? Please, don't be quite so naive as all that. Remember the Puritans? They were some of the most hypocritical people in history. I'd rather have drug dealers and whores on every street corner than a world full of complete fakes.
Why would the average person give a fuck about their privacy? Most people have nothing to hide, and unless they are a fanatic or a hobbyist, they could not care less who reads their stuff.
The "average person" has NO IDEA what it is they're giving up when they shrug their shoulders and waive their right to privacy, and I wouldn't even care except that the attitude of the "average" citizen on this subject affects you and me, but you don't seem to see that, do you?
Let me list for you people and things that do not enjoy a right to privacy:
Children
Animals
Prisoners
Slaves
If it was you who was not caring about your privacy and whether or not you're being spied on by the government, how would it make you feel to be treated the same way as the entities on that list? Think about it.
The hell with that crap. If they're going to shove ads right in your face like that, then they should give Windows away for free. If you're paying for the OS then there should NEVER be anything like this. Screw you, Microsoft.
Tesla should have an advantage, at least right now, to promote the technology, which you have to admit is going to be the way of things. Facilitating adoption by the general public is only going to benefit everyone in the long run. Once it's really caught on there will be dealerships falling all over themselves to get in on the action, but for right now electric vehicles are a hard sell.
If enough people reject DRM, then content providers will stop using DRM, or risk losing so much revenue that DRM will become entirely besides the point.
Content providers need to accept that some piracy is always going to go on, and the tighter they clench their fists, the more of the content is going to run through their fingers.
Seriously. Does it ask for your home address and license plate number, store those too, to make it easier for the crook that hacks the machine, makes copies of your keys, and then robs your house and steals your car(s)?
It doesn't make any difference where it came from if you don't understand how it works and just accept that it does.
This is what's wrong with people these days! Do you question anything? Do you even try to understand how things work?

You sure you want to be on that list?
Get correct, son. Before it's too late.
deny coverage based on genetic markers
So they'd accelerate the creation of an entire underclass of people and their disenfranchisement? This shit has got to never see the light of day.

This. Times a million. "Cloud storage"? Absolutely NOT. EVER. Not even ONCE.

I, for one, welcome our Robert Patick-esque liquid-metal killer-android 3D-printed overlords!
Let me guess: you've given up voting in elections, haven't you?

Do I really need to say anything more?
I'd like to start a petition to include a "Teh" key on all standard keyboards, who's with me?
Nobody should have to put up with that, either.
Some of us still buy components and build our own to specs, not buy some name-brand box, so there is no OS pre-installed.

Why is this modded down to -1, Troll when it's sparked such a conversation and has so many replies? Mod parent up, damnit.
