Thank you for this collective thought, that we all find LILO the best bootloader! And am not even talking about other operating system, just about MILO (alpha linux loader for arc bios). What's next? Everyone's favourite webserver Apache gets an update?
Um... yeah... that's what a DoS attack does. I don't think it's necessary to spell that out for anyone here. And you probably couldn't use Napster, either, right? You actually don't get the point do you? Because there was a DoS attack on the IRC server, 1500 students could not access any network services, and all network servers were unreachable. These servers include mail, dns, fileservers.
Come on, guys give me a break. Everybody here is complaining 'oh no what should I do, no IRC, no contacts, ah my social life'. But you do not understand the importance fo the matter. For example, at the univeristy where I am studying, we had a DoS attack lastnight, which resulted in the fact that we were not able to check our mail, telnet into remote servers, even not being able to access educational materials. And all you can think of is that this is a a pre-emptive action. It is not. If these DoS attacks continue, I am sure many IRC servers will be shut down, and they are right to shut them down. Ward
I noticed that an Alpha version was also available. This is very surprising, considering the fact that RedHat 6.1 for Alpha was released in the second halfth of December. I upgraded 22th december to 6.1, which broke a few packages (most notably some.conf files and slocate), and am not going to upgrade after just two months... What are they thinking?

The Mars polar lander has not yet been lost. Dutch television showed at friday that the Westerbork Array is (in cooperation with NASA) still trying to contact the Mars polar lander. The Westbork array was said to be used because it is the most advanced (Dutch: gevoelig) array at the high frequencies. I watched the show while I was half-asleep, so I can't give you anymore details. Check out more infot abou the Westerbork Array, the Netherlands at http://www.strw.leidenuniv.nl/~vdmeulen/deeper/Art icles/Westerbork.html
That's what I use, it avoids problems with updating and disabled virusscanners. There are several in existance now:
MessageLabs, best known, scans domains (SMTP)
MessageFilter, a new kid on the block also scans domains (SMTP)
vSweeper scans POP3 boxes, it essentially proxies mails.
New Section suggestion: RMS's GPL Violators
I am going to miss kerneltraffic. But not linuxcare.

What is informative about this post? That female Oracle administrators actually DO exist? Ward

I don't know why, but xs4all, has a copy ftp://dl.xs4all.nl/pub/mirror/Beos/BeOS5-PersonalE dition.exe and it's downloadable! go get it!
My thoughts exactly. Propably because she's a woman, and slashdot readers are (in general) interested in female geeks for some strange reason.
... wonder where that idea came from, anyone rememebring Wesley Crusher in The Game?
