Publicly-traded companies HAVE to be "greedy and immoral", otherwise they're not acting in the best interests of their stockholders. Mind you, I'm not saying this is a good thing; I think it's the cause of much that is wrong with the world today. I don't see an easy way to fix it though.
From what I've heard, quite a few went back to Dark Age of Camelot. I have no firsthand knowledge though, as I quit gaming altogether about 6 months ago.
They may "go 'what the fuck?'" but they won't DO anything unless Microsoft wins... and the settlement requires that every Tom Tom be seized and destroyed.
You don't need public opinion on your side when you have corporations lining up to buy your products. Microsoft is loathed in the datacenter but adored in the boardroom and this won't change that.
Less facetiously, in the case of multiplayer games, waiting a year means that you'll be a year behind everyone else in experience and loot. It's difficult if not impossible to overcome that handicap.
