Because I am an American and believe in freedom? Or maybe because I am not a boot licking scum dog who looks for his masters' in Washington approval before I squat to piss?
I'd damn sure download a car if I could.
Who would I be depriving?
Who would be missing their car when the download completed?
The same people who are missing their music or films?
Please show me where my downloading music takes any real property or causes any real damage to a person.
If I can listen to the song for free on the radio, tape it or otherwise copy it from the radio, then there is no harm.
If I can not get the music without buying it, I will not buy it and there is no lost "profit" there either.
So downloading a car or a song or a film does not cause anyone to lose real property or cause any real damages.
What part of "I will not buy a game until I have downloaded and played it at least a couple of times" do you find hard to understand? It seems to be written in English. I do not buy a game until I test drive it first. If I download a game I want to buy and play it and it turns out to be a PoS like 95% of them do now a days, I delete it and do not buy it. I don't keep copies of downloaded games on my computer to play and replay over and over. I test them, see if they are worth the 50-60 bucks and then if they are, I go buy copy. If not, I delete it. Maybe you should get off/. and go back to remedial English class and learn some reading comprehension for the terminally stupid.
agree. after the tenth or twentieth game I dropped hard earned cash on, after reading the stellar reviews and "omg the bestus game ever" fanbois, I decided to stop giving my money away. I will not buy a game until I have downloaded and played it at least a couple of times, for an extended amount of time. And by doing so, I have saved myself tons and tons of money. I did not even buy WoW until I used the 10 day trial and leveled two toons to 20. I will not be ripped off any more. And when I can't download a copy or a very good trial, then I will not even consider buying a game. Stupid game companies would make more money by producing solid, good games, charging a reasonable price and stopping the grind of same game, slightly different, costs more and sucks. I would rather buy games and be able to return them if they suck ass, but since the game companies refuse to allow this, then fuck them. They will have me previewing the cracked game and usually not buying it because it sucks. Because the number of games I buy any more due to them sucking is minuscule at best.
That is your problem, lack of vision. By the time DNF(praise be unto him)comes out, that hundred dollar bill will worth trllions of galactic creds and will probably buy him not only DNF(praise be unto the protector) but his own solar system.
What sucks is that I have 25 odd years worth of plots, plans, dungeons, cities, towns, castle, NPCs and sundry other materials that have managed to keep well over a hundred people entertained and coming back, some for decades, and can't get it into a PC game. All of which would make an excellent MMORPG background and adventure game. But lack of knowledge (ain't a computer programmer or techie) and lack of time (own business, working on MA in Social Work, GF, and internship tied to MA)so I can't do it myself. I hope that maybe by the time I retire, come on 55, the game making may be more streamlined where a non-techie can do it with point/click,little script.
Well, I play WoW, one of the most successful MMORPGs, but I don't think it in any way encourages or supports RP. I play it because it is fun, it kills time and some of my friends play. First MMORPG that supports RP, has character customization, the variety and largeness of WoW, and a decent size player base, I am jumping ship and letting WoW go on about its business. If you want to be good at the gme, your toon has to be like every other toon at your level and class. So 50 toons looking alike, carrying the same weapons and wearing identical armor, using the same rotations is not RP.
So if you play WoW, play on a PvE server.
There are probably not 10 things between lvl 1 to 80 that will force you to PvP flag, and they are all voluntary. What sucks about WoW is that I have to PvE if I want BiS items. Most PvE gear is better than PvP gear. I don't gank except on Cho'Gall. There the rule is red = dead. On the PvE servers, unless you are bothering me and are flagged, I ignore lowbies, excepting horde lowbies bothering Alliance lowbies.
I disagree. It does not have twitchy PvP, which relies more on reflexes and latency than skills or gear for wins. But I dare say the arena tournament realms are not carebear by any measure. And feel free to come play on Cho'Gall as an Alliance toon. When you have more horde in SW or IF than Alliance, when a/who will at times show fewer than 8 Alliance toons on the realm, and a WG win is a rare, rare thing, we'll see you QQing all the way back home. Of course I am biased, as I find the idea of PvE grindfests to be abhorrent and boring. When they implemented XP on BGs, I level every toon that way now, except for gear runs through instances and grinding for rep. Why play against a pre-programmed mob, when I can match up against a real person? I an only say AC I am replying to is a n00b scrub that can't get an arena rating over 1500 or win a BG.
WoW carebear server I assume. I actually have rerolled toons on Cho'Gall Alliance side just because it is 30:1 horde to Alliance population. Some people like hardmodes.
Some stuff I agree with. You are a child molester, no daycare jobs for you. An embezzler, no job handling money. But at some point society has to stop holding felonies against folks 20+ years after the fact. If a person is so dangerous to society that 20+ years after they committed a crime they can't get a job, then they need to still be in prison and not walking the street. I have applied for drafting jobs, submitted samples, done phone interviews, and then get called in for a final F2F interview and get denied because of a felony conviction from when I was 17. I fail to see how an armed robbery charge would impact my ability to do architectural drawings for a log cabin manufacturer. Hell, we have a convicted felon, convicted of obstructing justice when he was the sheriff previously, no less, running for county sheriff. And the bastard will probably win, but a 41 year old with a felony for armed robbery in 1985, can't get a job flipping burgers at McDonalds. There needs to be a way to expunge convictions after x number of years free with no further crimes. IMNSHO.
A low UID does not make you smart I see. He committed a crime 25 years earlier. I went to prison when I was 17, and am now 41. Time changes folks, and not just prison time. You are a very narrow minded and prejudiced SOB if you are going to hold stuff against people 25 years after they did the crime.
Why? Since when is it the government's job to protect the mathematically challenged from themselves? Since when is it the government's job to do anything but provide security of the boarders(poor job BTW so far) and to maintain basic services? Sorry the government is not a nanny for those too stupid to handle their money, just as it should not be involved in 90% of the crap it has its noise stuck into. For example WoD, legislating morality, and telling people what they can do in the privacy of the bedroom, or who you can and can not marry. None of those are the business of the government, but thanks to people like you who want to use the power of the gun to enforce your antiquated morality, it is all up in grown folks business.
Which ever one that allows the DA to charge you with a felony. Unless of course you are connected, then it is which ever one that allows the DA to charge you with a misdemeanor which he'll drop under a prayer for judgment. The amount of leeway a DA has is what makes the US legal system appear to be so uncorrupted when compared to the rest of the world. But the corruption lies within the system, at the level of discretion the DA and judges have.
The thing you are missing is that if it had came down to a NATO/Warsaw Pact war, when our "superior" conventional units wiped the Warsaw Pact units off the battlefield, pride and fear would had lead to the USSR launching nukes. And even with their sad state of nuclear weapon launching abilities (liquid fueled anyone?)our response alone would have seriously fucked up the planet, not to mention some of theirs would have it our country and fuck-up major swathes.
You actually used real data on those shopping cards? I have a couple from each chain I shop at (although I do find Aldi to be awesome for some stuff)and switch them around according which vehicle I am driving. Fuck giving them marketing for their fake ass "deals".
Eh, got a real name FB profile without a picture and on an email address I only use for "official" purposes. Got another FB profile with a fake name, that my real friends know of. I have an awesome 44 friends, surely in the top 10% of the great friend collection race. Even on the fake name, profile info is limited, no pictures of me, no phone number, and no apps allowed. FB provides me with a wonderful free service that allows me to stay in contact with friends I have scattered across the US and Europe, while I gladly screw the fuckers out of any profitable data.
We are humans. As RAH said, we are probably the most warlike and violent race that has reached rudimentary intelligence in the universe. If there were other intelligent races, far advance of us, but with our innate bloodthirstiness and violent tendencies, we would dead. Look at the hostility the vast majority of humans have towards each other based on skin color or religion or where they live. Do you actually think humanity as a whole would welcome intelligent beings from another planet, especially if they were as different as us as we are from a fish? Pssh. If you do, you have more faith in humanity than all the religious folks have in their god(s) since the beginning of time.
HVAC/R service tech and company owner here. Bad idea, avoid if at all possible. They turn your AC off at peak times, and you usually won't notice it, but your house will rebound later in the day and your AC will run all night trying to cool back down to temp. The credit they offer does not offset the increased nighttime run costs. Remember the AC is designed for the most part to hold your house and its contents at a set temp, not to pull it down to temp quickly or to cycle temps rapidly. If you have ever gone on vacation and turned your AC way up, and when you get home turn it back down to temp, you can hear your outdoor unit cycling rapidly. It will cool the air, and then cut off. 2 minutes later when the heat from the walls, furniture and everything else goes into the air (hot to cold folks) the unit comes back on. tldr: opt out, bad for your wallet
I was a thief when I was teen-ager. Not a grab and run, bust a glass thief either. I was a break in, and steal everything you had in the house, and bust your safe if you had one. I got your collectibles and coins and left your crappy stereo. Like I said, I was a thief. When I got through getting all of your valuables by the inside garage door or by the front door, the phone call was made, and within 10 minutes a box truck, with no markings was in our driveway and your stuff was being loaded by three to five guys. And there was always someone standing watching with a clipboard, acting like a supervisor. We hit two to three houses a week in an 8 county area, and never got caught. I got busted when I got really strung out on the dope, but that's a different story. But your cul-de sac and neighbors don't really mean crap, except it is easier for your stuff to be stolen. Your being off the well traveled road means very low likely hood of a cop driving by. If it is an upscale area, most folks are not at home during the weekdays. Either out working or spending the dough. The 30 minutes or so they are in your house getting crap together is not a big risk. The five to ten minutes spent loading is minimum. By the time most folks get around to deciding to walk over, we are gone. Your alarm system makes good money for the company while providing you with very little if any security. Good locks with 2" deadbolts, doubled key. No bushes or plants or bushes and plants with wicked sharp thorns around windows. No clamshell locks on windows and use a screw or nail in a hole to fasten them shut with the window locks. Install solid glass storm windows and use square head or security torx screws. Get a big dog. That will make your house hard enough for the random thief to go on to the next house.
My buddy, back before he got married to a woman with good sense, used to keep his bill money in his right front pocket and the rest of his money in his left front pocket. Said as long as the left was heavier than the right, he was doing good. Now he has a wife and she manages the money in a much more orderly way. She is still PO'd about a check she wrote me that I lost a few years ago. Seems it was throwing her booking keeping off. I have bank accounts and CCs, yet like the poster above, cash is much easier to budget with. You can look and see how much you have, and usually decide the gee-gaw or hojinky is not worth the money you'd have to spend. And it scales well, from a $.99 coke if you are running low to a $12.00 glass of liquor.
Because I am an American and believe in freedom? Or maybe because I am not a boot licking scum dog who looks for his masters' in Washington approval before I squat to piss?

Jane's various fighter games came with manuals and keyboard layouts. And you needed the with the F-15s and 16s.
